Problem solved. Any complaints can be dealt with by increasing the volume of the radio.

LOL I like to see people thinking laterally!

I suspect some kind of fuel starvation so I am planning to look into the fuel pump situation. Not sure how to check it properly but I am sure I can locate something on the net to tell me all about it.

Putting the Disco gearbox back in tomorrow though so it will have to wait until Sunday methinks!
 
be careful falling into the trap of guessing what is wrong and spending out. Even all the help on the net its nothing compared to pluging it into tech. Or a knowledgable vauxhall tech. Back to basics if in doubt plugs leads etc.

Anyway who is out and about this weekend?

I've done the plugs... leads... coil... I am straying toward the fuel starvation because when it splutters it does it on all cylinders not just one.

Maybe I'll phone the knower of all things and see what his suggestion is. It's a bit of a mystery and an adventure!
 
well if you have done the plugs leads coil etc then there isn't much more to it. Fuel filter? Worth changing anyway for the price of them just treat it as a service item.

Anyone know where I can get a fair ammount of 6mm steel plate on a Saturday morning? steelfast is closed weekends :-(
 
a fair ammount. Need to plate up the chassis of the trailer and get a fair few lengths of 40mm x 3m x 3M lengths aswell to make it stronger.
 
Found the cause of the power steering leak. The pipe was worn through and needs to be replaced. Off into internetland to order one :D
 
Been all day replacing the bashed front wing. What a poxy awkward job that was, the nuts & bolts are nigh on impossible to get to. Done now though.:D
 
I finished welding my holes up, securing batteries, replacing brake pads, clearing out the mud from the bonnet release and other minor crap in preperation for my MOT booked up for next week.... then should be ready to taxon july 1st...... woop woop!!!!

Mr V I hear that your lad and mine have hooked up as friends in school! Good stuff. Kai did tell me that your lad got a puncture in hyis bike tyre the other day, but when we looked for him to run him and his bike home he was nowhere to be found! Hope he and it got home in one piece!
 
Had a good day today work wise. Managed to get spydermand roof which was cool, Managed to get my steering column mounted in a comfy position and all tacked in place so that all the splined rods worked out on the 80 inch.
 
A few piccys of our own spannering today...

Kai used the shaft that we cut from a gearbox at Jai's earlier in the week as a guide to mount the clutch back in place... first class fitting!

Then clamped the pressure plate back on... leaving the guide shaft in place

He then created the harness to attach to Ash's Engine hoist - and moved the whole lot out to the motor

And lifted the now mated transfer box and gearbox into place beside the disco

Then he moved the engine hoist to the front of the motor and used it to lift the disco far enough thaht he could slide the gearbox/xfer box under the vehicle without worrying about clearance

And bribed his younger brother into helping

Once the motor was high enough

He slid the gearbox underneath and together we used the hoist through the doorway to lift the gearbox into place and refit it!

All in all a quality day. I think he did really well.. I helped a bit... but only a bit with the heavy stuff.

Yeah, he was fine. managed to puncture a puncture-proof tube... ne'er mind. Unfortunately it seems to be puncture repair-proof too, it just don't wanna seal.. lol....
