Well Kai, Luke and I went off to whaddon. Ha the whole place to ourselves and about 5 other motors. Kai had a good long driving session and really started to get the hang of the V8 and we only got stuck on one occasion.

Snapped a strop though (double pull) getting another disco out from the reeds, which poses a question... which of the following do I buy?

i. Standard Nylon Rope

ii. Semi Kinetic Rope

iii. Kinetic Rope

Thoughts?

Well the damage has been sorted, I'm all set for Billing. Thanks to Jai & Gibbo-Phil for giving me a hand today.

Here's what I did in Sandy Lane last Saturday.

Just remember that a strop is not designed for a snatch type recovery.
You should take up tension slowly before applying the beans.
To be honest the nylon rope is the better option but should be checked properly after every use and if there are strands broken bin it.
The kinetic ropes are only desined for ONE use and should be discarded after the one and only use. If anybody disbelieves me check the paperwork that comes with them.
BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY ALWAYS

Strops are terrible for recovery, they hurt the motors really badly, no stretch in them whatsoever.
I use a Pro-Comp recovery strap, rated to 30,000lb, has just the right amount of stretch, very much like a rope, but easy to work with and store away.

Everyone knows where i stand on strops so I won't say nowt. A nylon rope is THE best all rounder. Makes recovery situations much easier
