Hertfordshire Lanes?????

I have worked out where the tear in the sidewall of the tyre came from. A little while earlier my wife had said she would consider having a drive (she is insured) and obviously the poor Disco was just trying to save itself from another smashed wing mirror!

Rangey in no shape for 40 foot at the moment but would be happy to ride shotgun. I guess something to discuss at pub meet.
What's up with it?
You're more than welcome to grab the passenger seat of course.
I'll only go if someone else is up for it too though. Even I'm not that mad to do Forty Foot on my own.
See you on Wednesday.

Forty Foot opens on Wednesday, I'm going for a look at the weekend. Anybody fancy a go?

''Warning'' Forty Foot is a very tricky lane, not for the ill equipped or inexperienced.

Hey Guys,

Sorry to potentially **** on your parade but.......

I phoned the council today to confirm the open date of 40 foot the mans reply was yes its supposed to open on the 1st of April but they are seriously considering keeping it TRO'd for longer due to ground conditions at which point I said: Ok Thank you very much, Its a nice day for a walk. Good bye! Jai

Well I recieved a cheque for my refund so when It clears I'll get another wheel/tyre but Not able to get over there for a while working 5 days a week sucks! Jai

I discovered a BIG thorn sticking out one of my tyres today....i'm yet to remove it without having some tyre weld to hand :(

Damn that rules me out straight away, in both aspects!

If I could afford it i'd get a cheap old rangy/Disco to use off road, I think my disco is too nice to trash offroad  I knew I should have gone for an old cheap 300!!

No worries just ride shotgun you will see lots of recoverys and learn loatd and hopefully have a good time with it which is the main thing Jai

I'm still not sure if I have a head gasket problem, the rear diff pinion seal is shot, the exhaust needs a bit of attention, I need to clean the alternator out and I suppose I ought to take the prop shafts off and service the UJ's and slidig joints, the hand brake is in desperate need of stripping down. I also found a bit of a soft spot in one of the sills - soa bit of welding required too.

So nothing major but just lots of fiddling around but I think 40 Foot would kill it. I'd rather do the bits first. Oh MOT is due in May, so probably best to get the Rangey in shape for that then give it some more abuse.

True enough Spyderman, I've just got to find the time to get the bits and crawl under the motor (again LOL). MOT is due end of May so I will be taking it easy until I get another 12 months ticket on it but as I said, if you want to go to 40 foot before then I'm happy to ride shotgun - many hands make light work and all that!

Kev,
I've got the special Propshaft tool, it makes getting it off a lot easier.

Rear seal, don't forget to drain diff first, as the oil ****es all over you otherwise.
You should manage that lot in a weekend, if you leave the Sheep alone.;)
MOT can be got earlier than due date and it still gives a full year past it's expiry date.
