Hi, I'm the fed up owner of a 10p td5 D2....

Recent upgrades/general spec.

136 Thousand miles

10 months mot

Serviced 3 thousand miles ago, new transmission oils with new brass plugs

No chassis rust!

New injector harness

New calcium battery (4 year guarantee)

2 new front bearings

New rear callipers and new pads all round

5 x 265/75/16 insa turbo dakar loads of tread on black modulars

30mm wheel spacers

Rear spring conversion

2" lift springs (terrafirma)

2" extended shocks (terrafirma)

Basically I took it off road and got some water in the cab. Maybe only 4" deep but it sloshed about a bit and now I can't stop the immobiliser! The key fob doesn't work and when you open the door with the key the alarm just goes off! Any help and advise welcome. Thanks
 
It's bone dry now, originally I was told I'd probably got the fuse box under the steering column wet and when I inspected it it did look like it might have got wet. So I changed it for a new one but still no luck
 
Trouble free motoring until now. I've done 500 mile round hunting trips to Scotland in the old girl but the water at Kirton off road centre does seem to have been it's achilles heel
 
This is what I was fearing. Next quick question is what would you value the truck at as it is? I know it's hard without seeing it but just as a rough guid, and what do you think it would be worth if it was running nice? Just trying to gauge if it's worth fixing
 
Cheers for the advise. The local lad from the garage was trying to basically say it was written off, and then instantly offered me £1200 for it, so as you can imagine alarm bells started ringing
 
I need to get a second opinion but that's the only garage in my area that I know with the night computers to read land rovers
 
firstly
Bad earths
Bad connections etc will cause all manner of faults.
Simply befor any diagnostic is used all connections should be servicable- then diagosis.
Otherwise your get phantom faults and a world of pain
 
if you haven't done so already, it is worth getting a fault code reader like the Nanocom or similar. Otherwise you're just fencing in the dark with these things. I know it's a few hundred quid, but you'll be able to get a sense of what's wrong. Even if you get a garage to do the work, you'll at least be able to have a conversation with them about what's the matter rather than having to take it on trust.

As above, you can do a lot for yourself by checking the physical condition of the wiring looms and plugs, that they're all clean and dry and there are no corroded connections, and the things that should be earthing are doing so and the things that shouldn't are not.
