Genuine 300tdi in a 1991. How?

I know this is not vital but good be a 250k engine.
Also if he is unsure about stuff regarding the car then he may not be sure about things like chassis condition and bulkhead. Then £5.5k might be a bit steep.
Just getting all I can as like I said 5hrs is a long way lol and I was stung on my last one I bought (my fault for not checking enough)

that dosent mean it was 300 originally which it couldnt have been it would have been a 2.5na,its easy enough to change the details on a v5

Thats my point really, you've got no idea how many engines might have been in the truck in the past so as long as the V5 matches whats with it now its all above board and as long as its a good one I wouldn't worry. If it bothers you then look for another one, there's plenty out there for that money but don't expect any of then to be exactly how they left Solihull.

Blimey, you would hate mine, every time I look to fix something, It is like opening an Agatha Christie novel.....it is such a bitsa.

You will find a lot of older fenders are like ths to some extent. Carry on searching and you will eventually find an original, but then you will have to ask , is the condition of the chassis / bulkhead / engine / gearbox / axles etc OK , or are they ready for changing.

if it was military and changed engine then the colour for the block would have been blue. The last time I drove in the RAF working as a supplier the newer vehicles came roughly in mid 1989. I finished in Oct 1990. Most were 2.5na with free fluffy dice and nice comfy seats. I read defender wolf version are 300tdi

The trouble is you can get all that stuff from ebay so who's to say what it looked like originally.
 
The air intake would indicate that it hasn't been fitted with a Defender 300TDi or LRGP 300TDi re-power kit as if it had the layout would be as per a factory 300TDi so it has probably been fitted with a Disco unit.
Would be interesting to see what the airbox set-up is as that would give an indication as to the quality of the conversion.
