Both mirrors have stopped folding in
Working fine until today ?
Questions
They still move up/down L/R so have power
What’s the practical way to find out what’s wrong ?
Are the on one fuse and is it common for both to fail at same time ?
thanks

Power fold is completely independent of all other mirror functions, all mirrors are power adjustable, but not all are power fold, so the system is independent.

Check the power fold ECU for corrosion, which can be found to the left of the glove box.

It’s not home at the min my mate as borrowed it till tomorrow so I have a look then
I hope it’s a simple fix
Is it Just one for both ?
thanks as always

My powerfold mirrors sometimes stop unfolding. When that happens I open the fuse box by drivers knee, tap the all fuses a couple of times and the mirrors start working again. I have never worked out why they stop working; it appears to be a totally random event. Just once ot twice I've had to turn the ignition on and off to kick the mirrors back into life, but generally tapping the fuses does the trick.

Freelander the gift that keeps giving
When it fares up I have look
Thanks

The ECU for the powerfolds is very much like a relay tucked up in the wall next to / underneath the glove box. I wonder if over the years too many wet boots etc. in the footwell area might have just made the 'relay' connectors a bit tarnished, and they just need a wiggle and a clean to get a good connection going again. When you take it out you could check it has the 12v supply present.

Got a look this afternoon
Apparently they don’t work if you have it left or right of centre
Only when the switch is central will they fold ?

On ours the switch is dodgy. Pushing it down is supposed to fold them but often doesn't. If I twist it left and right a few times and then try again it seems to clear it. Once it has worked once it keeps working. I think that the switch contacts are worn out or oxidised.
