Hi Guys,Ladies

I'd like some advice on where to get some off road shocks, springs and steering damper for my 04 td4 freelander 1, having issues with finding some, keep getting hits for freelander 2

I've owned a Defender for 3 years which I've done rather a lot to for heavy off roading,
Had no issues finding parts for my Defender, however this freebie seems to be bit of a £$£%$£

Thanks in advance
All the best
Rob

Freelander parts are a little hard to come by for off roading. I have noticed that the freelander challenge boys use Munroe shocks from the Ford Focus (Mk1 I think).
There are lift kits available which sit on the top of the turret.
Although the freelander is more capable than people gave credit for, it is a little limited in it's modifiying capability due to it's use of macpherson struts rather than double wishbone, and the steering is carried out by a rack and pinion system used on road cars, so again, a steering damper isn't something available for the freelander due to it's set up.

As above. There's no need for a steering damper in a rack and pinion setup. You could make something up, but any benefit is going to be minimal.

You can't go mad with suspension lifts as the steering arms come through the body and the wishbones are too short to accommodate it.
A set 40mm lift blocks and some longer springs for the shocks is all you can do, without major surgery of the body. Fitting some larger tyres will complete a lift, without going down an expensive and complex route.

Thanks for the replies guys,
lift blocks and springs and some new rubber on some 16 steel wheels then/
Any suggestions on what springs, I have the sport edition and it seems to be very low

Your best bet is to sell the Sport and buy a normal hight FL1. The Sport commands a premium price over all other models. This premium price will lost, the moment you mess with it.

It's also easier to lift the standard FL1, by comparison to the Sport's lowered suspension.
