Spent most of my life restoring and rebuilding cars as a hobby.

Now retired, I am looking for a very clean, rust free Mk1 Cortina (I couldn't afford one in the 70'S!!).

If someone has one, is looking for a good safe home where the car will be enhanced and cared for, please get in touch. 2 door preferred but will consider anything clean.
Not looking for another restoration, just a tidy up!

Thanks

So, for about the same money, a minter pre airflow 1200 super or a lhd post airflow GT? Anyone converted to rhd? Looks like the shell is not cut / drilled for easy conversion. Which is it to be??

As of your remit, you want a rust free car then it would have to be a LHD vehicle but you may also need a basket case RHD for the conversion parts.
How much is your budget ? i come across them quite often...

Have you seen/done a conversion. Looks like the firewall is completely different, not a matter of just swapping wipers, steering linkages and pedals into blanked holes!! Budget is about 12k. Prepared to do tidying but not a full rest this time. I'm thinking a GT would be a better investment although that is not the main reason. Just want one!!

I haven't seen a MK1 LHD drive conversion and maybe you'd have to cut and shut the fire wall ?
I have seen Mk1 Escorts converted this way for the brake servo and steering column but the firewall is a later design.
£12000 should get you a very reasonable GT, I'll keep me eyes peeled...

OK thanks. Lhd drilling on scuttle is also wrong for wipers. Not the Leyland style of drill loads of holes and put grommets in the spare ones!!

You are right there is no provisions for moving things over from a lhd to rhd it would be a lot of work, not impossible thought
the over budget one looks nice, bit to clean for my likes as i want to be able to use it and not worry about the odd scratch:D mines got patina:rolleyes:
