not quite a resto, more re-comissioning, more to do (like servo vacuum pipework) but it's getting there:)

Rich.

Been shopping:

RHD loom, steering box, dash handbrake, handbrake pivot, mph speedo, correct rev counter plate, RHD idler, bulkhead, RHD dash, correct fuel pump, clutch pipe, parcel tray, spare gearbox, sound padding, stainless wiper blades.

Rebuilding steering box, found a GT one but needs new ball bearings and races, seals etc.
Rebuilt pump with new parts, mine has an electric one mounted on the bit I need to cut out!!

Working on a dash conversion now with the necessary metal work made using the RHD dash as a template. Will flog dash when done, too much and car too good to cut the whole dash out.

Looking at a set of 2000E cogs on ebay, won't know if any good until purchased but if the right price I'll take a punt.

Moving forwards.....

Thanks Brian, really helpful. Have been building a new dash loom with a fuse box and light / horn relays.
Fabricating brackets and taking many many measurements. Not done any actual drilling or cutting yet. Plan is to have all ready for a weekend swap over. Serviced the RHD steering box and resprayed lid and tube, new bearings and seals/gaskets.
Getting very familiar with the completely inadequate wiring loom in the car!! So many wires under massive stress. Heater, wipers, horn all on one thin cable!!
Will be loomed up in Ford grey, but hopefully much safer. Fitting a 14 fuse and 3 relay box. A couple of spare slots is always useful.
Thanks again.

Sounds good
Yes the looms are a bit lacking but at least they are not to complicated, imagine trying that on a new motor.

Quick question!
Just fitting a standard fuel pump to the mk1 1500 gt engine. Can anyone confirm if it has or should have a spacer or heat block or just a gasket and straight on to the block??

Thanks.

There should be a think spacer block about 8mm and two gaskets if your stuck for one i could probably find an old one in my spares.

Thanks, I am at the Cortina bash in Stratford at the weekend, if I can't locate one I'll get back to you. Figured there should be a spacer but not in any manuals!

You should be able to find one there and a few other odds and sods, one year i will get to go to the owners meet i used to go to them in the late 80`s early 90`s sadly quite a few of the names that i know are no longer with us:(

Thanks again, got what I needed at the show.
Today have removed a badly bodged battery clamp, bought the correct battery and remade some dodgy connections.
Loom is finished and ready for metalwork to be finished on dash.
Fitted new age related plates. C reg.

Love it!!

Anyone with a GT type remote gear change please, a question.

When gear is selected, 1st or 2nd, should it be possible to push lever over to position 3 or 4 whilst in gear??

Just about to take out box and refit my refurb one, but noticed the above and wonder if the remote is dodgy??

Steady! I'm getting everything done ready for a weekend swap over.
Refurb RHD steering box, made new loom, ade support and dash bracketry. Bought clutch pipe, bulkhead floor filler panel, parcel shelf etc.

Also rebuilt spare gearbox as current one is getting noise!
Plan is not to have it off the road for too long.
Thanks.
Any views on the GT remote, above post please?

Sounds like your getting there:)
I dont know much about the remote gear levers as mine had the long wand one to start with then went to the 2000e box
but that does not sound quite right.
