:doh:Nothing like what I've done then! Think I set it as Red/Black = key1, White/Black is Ground............ Might be why it didn't work!:eek:

I might have to wait until the weekend to pull it all apart, but I can live with it like this for a week:D


Have you looked over the install pictures then? I know what your like for missin things tee hee:monitor_punch:

Well I've tinkered on a little bit more with the head unit, I've finally figured out the Bluetooth settings and set my NAV up just the way I like it, mind you the wife thinks I should leave the speed warnings on but honestly do you need to be told that your going to fast by a woman?!

It will take ten, I'm sorting out the reconfig for Primo at the moment, you know when you get a bee in your bonnet well I'm sorting this out now!

So did you hear back about your unit??
 
ok cool stuff.

yes well got an email back from them, they just told me to check the obvious bits like fuses and supply voltages etc... this has all be confirmed as ok.

I am a sparky by trade so i do have a bit of a clue of what i was doing lol :p:p:p

and it takes the company a day to reply to there emails as there replying from china (you can tell by their english typing - or translations)

All i want is a damm phone number to ring them up, oh they dont have one, only emails !!! grhh :mad:

so gotta wait for collection once they reply tomorrow some time, then wait longer for them to send it off and get it tested for faults, then wait even longer for them to either repair it or send me a new one !

whys nothing simple ! :mad::mad::mad:
 
oh and by the way, that Igo satnav softwere you sent me, is that the "igo primo" version???

on their website it shows a different looking map, like 3d layouts and buildings.

does mine do that ? or is it the newer igo ?

not much good for my copy at the moment, both of my SD cards are stuck inside the broken unit.

so cant get them out ! :mad:

I hope you get it sorted soon, tell them you want it sorting or full refund, that will push things along.

Anyhow, yes my unit will play songs etc still whilst Nav is on, but mutes when Nav talks or warning sounds are played.

Maps are both 2d and 3d. you get to see buildings etc when your in a built up area, main city's I'd say, not local things, but you do see bridges etc.

This version is IGO8 (current) they have a more expensive version called Primo, this is the one I'm trying to adapt.

Maps are all the same but it's how they're displayed etc, these are called skins, you can select other colour should you want to change the style of your unit....

Just waiting on on iso adpater to turn up then i'll do a quick test then get one bought!!!
Good news is telaren has HK in his freebie and it seems ok :)
 
Well I've figured it out, Primo is set on 800 screen size, mine is 480, slight difference then, so work is underway let see if this can be corrected.

At the moment I'm not able to get back out which is a small blessing, I'm having time off from the car!! Well sort of.... PC based at presnet, I will get back out on Saturday and sort them three wires out! Hippo you sure the blacks not ground?? haha

I'm really happy with the way it's turn out, sorting out all them wires was a mare but worth it, Hippo I was going to say run a route through IGO and set it away to show you the route but choose a city like London you will get to see the landmarks, but you can't!

I'd send them another mail and say you've checked the fuses etc and another unit works in the car. Can you have a replacement unit ASAP if this can't be done then a full refund or you'll submit a claim via EBAY and get your money back...... It's worked for me when someone sold me a bent PCU, he said it was the post I submitted a claim and got the full money back....

lol thanks for the advice, i did send them a strong email to them last night regarding i didnt like the fact you have to wait for them to repair it when they could just send you another unit and repair the old in their own time !

and that they take 24hrs to reply to each email i send ! useless !


regarding the cables, i would have thought the black was ground but i did try it as ground and then the other two cables as key 1 + key 2 but it didnt work.

but my config did work before the unit buggerd up.


its not like you can do any damage if you get it wrong as its only signal with no voltage present, just sensing for switched negatives so it wouldnt do no harm if wired the wrong way, it just wouldnt work.

anyway, i'll let you know if i here back from the company today :rolleyes:

Well I was messing around with the maps today and thought I'd update the head unit again and whilst I was out messing on I'd have a look at the steering control.

So now I've got my updated Maps loaded, my POI loaded, Speed cam loaded and guess who's got this wheel controls working!!:D

Bloody hell Hippo was right, put all the wires the wrong way to common sense and they work!!:eek:

I'm one very happy Anguslives!

His units good all singing all dancing, just he wired it in wrong you see he's a Electrician haha!

Joke aside, it's just a bad unit, if he keeps the same one or moves on that's up to hippo it's technology and it can fail, nothing saying it will or wont happen again, you can pay £200 or £800 you expect the expensive one to last but what if it doesn't poo poo happens!

If he still likes it, no reason to change to another, but you might be able to find another at a better price?

Are you still wanting to do this kit-out then???
