When your snoring at 3 am where is the risk there is no police at night here in the sticks

You miss the point. I am looking to try and make it sufficiently inconvenient so as to not be worth the bother. How you achieve that is up to you. But to say - it's inevitable, if they want it they'll have it anyway, is daft.

If you leave the thing unlocked with the engine running, the crim from those with the lowest level of motivation (and ability) upwards will probably seize their chance and nick it.

If you truss it up like Hannibal Lecter, you will hopefully put off the lower level crim (who either can't be bothered or just can't) and hence reduce the risk of theft.

As I already said it will also become a pain in the ass for yourself every morning.

any one concidered using a wheel clamp? easily fitted, not easily bypassed(without making alot of noice), and its a good visual deterrant.
its just finding one big enough to fit the wheels

You have a point, mine is on driveway blocked in by two cars and its under my bedroom window and all that but if they want it they WILL get it!!

True... but... they'd be doing me a favour in a way as they'd have to reattach the rear axle first, and , think i'd wait till they'd finished doing that - which WILL involve a lot of cursing and swearing and noise, then go out and disturb them :D

I'm like Johnny don't lock my cars don't want them causing damage that could cost me in the long run , had some say about the insurance like they would know weather I had or not locked it , I don't leave temptation in it and I've never had one stolen im just lucky and not paranoid :)

....and when it's the car they want?

Its not just landrovers joy riders steal anything !

Aye - the place is crawling, that's for sure.

I say - do the best you can, be sensible, put everything you can think of in their way and be disciplined in applying all your security measures - all of the time.

....and then just hope for the best.

Does anyone know if metal drive gates would conduct a 12v charge.

Have a few electric fence energisers around, did wonder about connecting one of them to the car, but then thought how good it would be if the gates were live :D. They are half way up the drive past two cars so no risk to innocent passers by.

I could rubber mount the hinges to stop it earthing, just wondering if it would work. They will power a mile of fencing tape. The metal is quite thick and fancy though

Not sure what the law is lol must be sign posted ... Got to laff

12V Yaesu UPS battery. 6"x4"x2" and it will last up to 1 1/2 hours!
Your linky says "The result is an incredibly loud 138 dB sound (measured 100 feet from the siren)" ... And it's American! Over here we measure the db at a distance of 1m. For example, an un-baffled pneumatic road drill being used on concrete would give readings of between 160db and 190db.
180db can cause severe damage to hearing if constantly exposed to the sound.
200db can result in extreme pain and may lead to a reduction of audio senses.

i think the worst situation is when they are basically waiting for you to leave it for 5 minutes.

Situation happened with my mate when he bought a ktm, few days later went on holiday and the neighbours said his garage door was open the morning after they went.

They carried the bike over the top of his 2 cars which he had parked in front of the garage door.

Spooky to think there could be people out there watching what you are up too.
