Download & unzip 'diagnostic installer helper' from https://topix.landrover.jlrext.com/topix/ui/mylinks

Edit -

For SDD select the link SDD Manual Software Download.
This will download the required files needed to your downloads area in your browser ready for you to install.
Download the JLR Installer Helper from the TOPIx Links Page and select Visual C to download.

You do not need to install anything else from the helper screen.

thanks i've done that, sorry for being stupid, which of the 5 do i need to install?
assume this is only for 165 and not 164 as that has been working just fine until now

Download & unzip the installer file - you'll probably get a 'Windows protected your PC' box, click on 'more info' then on 'run anyway'
You'll get this:-

Click on the 'Visual C' link at the bottom, don't bother with the rest, they're not needed for SDD.

You may be better off uninstalling SDD 165 first as the installation of Visual C sets the required paths for the registration of parts of the install - you may also get a keylogger / trojan warning, if you do, allow it - it's a false positive (SDD165 is downloaded from JLR, not some clone site - don't forget to run the 'patch' used for SDD164 before first use, the offline credentials used previously work fine.

Well after figuring out how to make win 10 use internet explorer and enable ActiveX.. battery is now reset!
No option to choose capacity or standard/agm etc so I'll be buying a new regular battery

you need to edit the CCF to change the size and/or type, easy enough to do but you need a keygen for engineering access.

Ah yes i have that! I've ordered a new standard battery now though.. but will make sure the size is correct in ccf

I notice there's no backup and it complained about 15 critical mismatches

SDD 165 won't install on windows 10, there's an alert towards the end of install about registering stuff then when i try to run the software out complains failed to start because it's side by side config is incorrect

Any ideas?

164 on win 7 is also not working, the software starts but hangs on the SDD logo with the moving dots on the right hand side
missing visual c++

mismatches are between factory as built and whatever is on BCM if it has been replaced or "pimped" you will have those. There is a special procedure to resync check session active configuration in service function

hello, wondering if someone has a clue. Working on a Discovery 4 project where its electronics are living on the attic with all or most modules connected. Using a working SDD and a working Mongoose, even tested with Gap IID, there is no way I get life in the Medium Speed CAN bus. all modules have a red cross through them. I printed out the MS CAN network from Topix and checked the main wiring loom. Disconnected all the modules apart from the RFA/KVM and BCM, still no joy. IID does not detect any MS_CAN modules either but does not complain about the MS_CAN. Tested SDD with the Mongoose on my D3 and there both CAN busses and modules on them are promptly detected. I measured the MS_CAN wires from each module back to te BCM, all have good connectio and o short circuits. Any idea what I should look for next?

trying to sort an ongoing 'smart key not found' issue..

under service functions, I clicked on 'security - immobilization' and SDD responded with 'communication failure'.

whats not communicating to what? I thought the immobiliser was part of the bcm?

no the immobilizer is the steering wheel lock module, the antenna module under the steering wheel and the KVM. Did you replace the battery of the key fob recetly?

car intermittently had 'smart key not found' with both keys, this went away for about 6 months then came back permanently a couple of weeks ago but could start with either key in the emergency location under the dash. was suggested to resync the KVM, which i did. this erased both keys from memory and now neither will let me turn the ignition on or start the car from the emergency position.
i've not replaced the fob batteries in the last 6 months but i can do, one reads 2.98v the other 3.07v on the multimeter. replaced one last winter
