ok i have fitted the replacement BCM, not touched it other than plugging SDD in to read any fault codes and I've got a ton
I presume this is because it needs to be initialised?

I really dont know.

But the last pic at the btm. VIN issues.
Maybe they cant be plug n play swapped. unless you can find a place to enter/change the VIN.
Or risk clearing them and see what happens🤔, maybe not the best thing to do ATM.

I did post that link to cloning them so maybe it has some merit.

not sure if i should be going through the sequence to add a new BCM (already tried this on the old one) not sure if that will fix the VIN
When you "add new" on the old 1 what options did you have?
Can you change a VIN already in the module? (jury still out on that1 )

Maybe have a good look around to see what you can/cant do first, cos as you say at least its said "hello" :).

Will it let you add keys?

i do have a backup of the CCF on my laptop (auto suggest seemed that i meant cockup not backup.. perhaps it knows something i dont!!)
you asked about keys.. i didnt try anything yet

As I have said I dont know.

You need to look around without changing anything so you dont end up with 2 small bricks and 1 large 1.

ok i've read elsewhere that no, SDD cannot replace the VIN. so it sounds like i need to send both BCMs off to someone who can clone them. thats doable, but not with SDD or anything else i have

i have an update, replaced the rf receiver in the roof and both keys are now "seen" inside the car, go through programming them and SDD announces both keys programmed successfully, the next step is verification, SDD asks if the ignition is on, 'key not found' still on the dash and verification fails.
Am i simply doing something wrong?

Fixed!! I had to go through the immobile routine and everything came to life!! Job done!!

I programmed like 50 bcms with old VIN on and they work fine the VIN is not the issue.

Ok thanks for the info!
In the end my bcm is fine, it must have been going to sleep. Car is now fully functional with no bcm dtc.

Thank you again for everything you did

hello, wondering if someone has a clue. Working on a Discovery 4 project where its electronics are living on the attic with all or most modules connected. Using a working SDD and a working Mongoose, even tested with Gap IID, there is no way I get life in the Medium Speed CAN bus. all modules have a red cross through them. I printed out the MS CAN network from Topix and checked the main wiring loom. Disconnected all the modules apart from the RFA/KVM and BCM, still no joy. IID does not detect any MS_CAN modules either but does not complain about the MS_CAN. Tested SDD with the Mongoose on my D3 and there both CAN busses and modules on them are promptly detected. I measured the MS_CAN wires from each module back to te BCM, all have good connectio and o short circuits. Any idea what I should look for next?
solution was the OBD2 connector of the car having a bad/no contact with the MS CAN network.

How to go about retrofitting 2012+ modules to a 2011 Discovery 4? The VBF and XML files of the As-Built file obviously have the old hardware. Can you add a WERS entry in the .XML file for a non-existing module, then add the XML file back to the Zipped As-Built file and force SDD to load that file by entering the VIN manually?

ok, but SDD does not recognize the Amplifier for example, since the 2011 D4 did not had the separate amplifier. AAM is crossed out. How would I make SDD recognize the new module(s). I have changed the CCF in engineering mode and change the Entertainment System to Premium Audio, Amplifier AUD4, but SDD doesn't seem to detect the amplifier

It's not detecting before you code it. There are several options there I remember there's an amplifier option as well. When it's not coded, the most ring avoids it.
