So today is a sunny day.....so had another attack on the EAS!!:violent:

Slow to raise in morning......But not today strangley!!!!

The pump test is good.....she is putting out hard strong air. The tank seems to fill quickly with door open.

I have performed a diaphram test....no air out of exhaust when compressor running.

The NRV valve test passed also, air was coming out of exhaust slowly but could easily stop it with my finger.

I have used soapy water on every connection (air bags are fine as held height for a week).

I fitted a new dryer today, and those connections are good also.
Fitted new exhaust also.

The pump will fill the cylinder.

The pump seems to run randomly, I can raise to the top, it will click on for 15 seconds, then click off. If i raise to standard height, there will be a lot of valve clicking, then the pump will run for ages.........Sometimes not!!

Just can't fathem it!!! :confused:

Should not be any air coming out of exhaust with compressor off. Maybe your new valve block is not as new as you think it is.

The problem is weird....

The compressor is acting EXACTLY the same way it did before

a) I serviced it....
b) Replaced it!!!
c) Replaced the valve block..........

I am wondering if the front sensors are triggering all this??? I swopped them to remove a sensor fault (which it did).

There is always a little dancing on the front, compressor clicks on for 5 seconds, then a bit more dancing, then the compressor runs continuely (and I think the front lifts a tiny tiny bit).....

"If you have done all the checks, your compressor is healthy, and you can detect no appreciable drop on a corner, but each morning or even if you have been parked a while, the EAS flashes for ages when you set off trying to get up to standard from an indicated low position with the compressor running. You have a problem with the NRVs. With the car up to height and engine off, with a door open. Wait a few mins for delay relay to do it's thing. Then remove exhaust filter and put your finger over outlet. If you have air coming out that cannot be easily stopped (high pressure) NRV1 is leaking air from tank".

The how to, says a little air is OK!!!! Only "cannot be easily stopped"!!

Should be no air when the car is level and the compressor has stopped Rachel.
A dodgy height sensor could also cause problems if the car is continuously adjusting the height because of erratic readings.

Shame you're not closer but there's a refurbished valve block with driver pack in my garage. If you want to borrow it, for elimination purposes, PM me with an address and I'll get it in the post tomorrow.
I've also got a spare compressor but it doesn't sound as if that's your problem.

That is really kind of you!!! I will run a few more checks and come back to you. The issue seems to be the same with the old and new valve block......I am really thinking front sensors now.....just going to check this NRV issue...........
 
No problem but after tomorrow I'm in Scotland for a week or so, making the Rangie earn it's keep. I hope the weather's not too good.
 
SO!!!

I ran the engine till compressor stopped at standard height!

Switched off

Waited a few minutes

Removed Exhaust

Tiny tiny amount of air came out and it hissed very quietly for a few minutes and then stopped.

I switch on the car, dropped her to the bottom and raised her to the wade height, and up she shot....

Can that be the NRV........? Doesn't sound like I lost air from the tank??

Sadly not always. Think of a volume control on a radio, they can make a crackling sound as you turn the volume up and down, same happens with height sensors so the EAS thinks they are moving when they are not. No fault will be logged unless they go out of range for long enough.

Makes sense :) and also frustrating for OP throwing money at parts trying to eliminate a fault !
