quick one,

is the rear door spring the same as the front door spring on each side of the motor? I know they are "handed" but are front and rears the same?

I dont use my rear doors as i only have the two front seats in due to some odd classification of my motor as a truck here in poland, so was thinking i could just nick the one from the back passenger door for the front door.

This could save me loads, postage to ge daft little springs here is more expensive than the bloody springs in the first place.

Oh ! Rebelrob -0h! how long does it take to change the springs .....and how long is YOUR piece of string .... Am fussy git so wanted more than four plastic plugs holding MY door card ...ha ..ha so find them ....ha ha .but ..that's easily said .One actually needs MWC 9134 and britishparts.co.uk of Herts have them .I had to get mine from the same guy from whom I got the springs as his 35 pence each plus two quid post was cheaper than tothers 22 pence plus ten quid to post to France worked out five quid more for me . Ten quid for that ! Paddock send me a tyre for five -bless them !

A tip, before stripping the doors down to replace the spring in the lock, check it isn't actually the actuator thats packed in... I stripped the passenger door down - it was a pain in the behind - and put it all back together again. Expecting it to work, I was confused when it didn't. Then it dawned on me... doh! :eek:

Does this cure the lazy button syndrome?
My doors unlock but the lock button doesn't seem to come all the way up so I use the passenger door and reach through for that final tug.

Thanks everyone for the info in this thread sorted my passenger door in a couple of hours thanks to this thread would of took me a lot longer without this info

Eventually got myself motivated to sort out the lazy button on the rear passenger door to keep the bairn happy. Ordered the springs off Ebay Friday morning;
Landrover Discovery Door Lock Latch Repair Springs 5 door Set | eBay

They arrived this morning (Saturday) and it took me 45 minutes to fix (it would've taken less if I hadn't dropped one of the spring clips inside the door, Doh!)

The springs even come with instructions. Very happy......next to sort the front window motor out.

Off side back door where does the bigger washer go back minds a boggle after a stressful spring lol... done

tailgate had to take the whole lot out to re attach the lock cylinder had to finish due to lack of daylight.
all is ok just forgot where the rod from the cylinder attached to?? nearly have a fully working rear end lol

did this on the passenger front door today... my springs from ebay came with some instructions... though... they didn't mention the part where you have to remove the entire electric window first :/ (or maybe you don't - but- i couldn't see a way round it without doing so)

Still - all fixed and working - except for the push down lock button for inside, couldn't work out how to get that back on and working - but - it's not important for the functioning of the door or lock mechanism so, it's in the parts box for now.

Bump I had the same I put it back together and the button fell through so I checked another door if its the same as mine the rod goes outside the metal but inside the plastic and the in from the front with the clip thing infront don't look right but when the cards back on its fine
