Hi guys,
I need yr support to solve this. From yesterday morning my car's CEL (looks like an injector) started to glow. Sometimes it flicks n vanish but comes again. No message though. Before starting the cel goes off just before the glow plug light but once the engine strts it keeps glowing. Randomly it flickers n goes off.
Any advise what to do apprecited as i do not have any form of diagnostics. I hate going to the dealer n no outsider has p38 diagnostics here.
Hope it' s a matter of just cleaning a sensor etc
I,m scared to drive as i might have to tow it back if the RR gods go against me
Thanks in advance.

Could be a bad connection to number four injector, try cleaning the contacts to that, worth a punt. Otherwise diag would tell you straight away.

I,m from Colombo, Srilanka.
Will check the 4 th injector wiring. What will be the resistance like?
Do i need to see the CPS too?but that needs special procedure in removing i guess.
I do not hv diagnostics equipment but hate going to the dealer on usual reasons we face with them.

Best way is diagnostics you can spend a fortune guessing and still not find out what is causing it. You can remove the CPS from it's bracket to take a look at it and it's wiring but DO NOT undo the bracket from the block or you are in for a world of pain. Doubt it's the CPS anyway. More likely to be forth injector sensor or quantity control servo.

I'm thinking of 'icarsoft930' , any views on that? Other diagnostics are expensive.

That's only another generic device. It might read this engine fault but not much more. It's own advertising says that it'll work on cars after '99 and then only on systems 'dependant on vehicle'. If you're going to keep the car bite the bullet and buy the proper kit.

It is an OBDII reader and will NOT work on your car. It will read engine data on V8 petrol engined P38s but NOT any of the other systems. It WILL NOT work on anything on a diesel P38. It is for use on Petrol cars after 2001 and diesels after 2004. In those years European vehicles HAD to be OBDII compliant. But having said that, there may still be generic manufacturers systems after those years it will not read.

I'd just like to use mine. It's shuffled off it's mortal airbags. As a Rolls "Our cars never break down, they simply glide to a halt and cease to go further". CKP ?

Bought a Nano com Evo for p38 diesel.
Read faults and got,
1. Injector timing value out of expected.
2. Glow plug fault.
3. Fuel cutoff solenoid fault.

After clearing faults 1 & 3 came back with CIL.
Item 3 is my fault .about a year ago on the faulty solenoid I removed plunger n power supply without replacing the whole thing. But it did not give any issues.

Guess this has nothing to do with the 4th injector. The CIL as before flickers or stays on most of the time.
Any ideas?
