Cooking oil in TD5

Worked out I will use bang on 2500 a year if I only fill up on engine oil/veg.. Ect.. So **** em! How do they prove it? Do I have to record every litre that I make/use?

Did you read the email correctly?
The issue with engine oil is not the 2500 litre limit..........it is duty payable from the start!
 
So how the hell do you put a definition on RECLAIMED OIL???

It's one of those loosely used terms that when the gov needs to they can change it around as it suits them so they come out on top same with police, councils the lot iv had it arse holes.

You'd've thought that any government genuinely interested in the environment would at least allow the same 2500l for reclaimed engine oil as home brewers get for veg oil.

After all, it saves getting rid of the oil, and it saves tearing down rainforest to grow crops for veg oil.

Write to your MP, is the only way it will get done. Can't see it happening under the current regime though.
 
Think about it. Garages have to pay to get the used oil taken away. Thats a job for somebody who pays income tax etc.. The processing companies have to pay tax on the equipment and ingredients needed to make it acceptable to most users (ie. clean and filtered). There are inspectors that make sure that the processing companies do what they are supposed to and store and transport it safely. Thats more jobs. When its sold it attracts fuel duty and VAT despite the fact that VAT was already paid when somebody bought it to put in their engine. And so on ........

It suits the governments not to do the decent thing. After all they have the legacy of the last shambles of a government to sort out and need to raise revenue where ever they can. The poor old law abiding motorist is an easy touch.

Off topic..........but this thread has been a "multi"

Just heard of a guy who "modified" his tank with and extended and sealed filler neck. Filled the neck with pump diesel and the rest of the tank with red. He got dipped and was caught by them measuring the temperature of the sample which was cooler than it should have been.........worth knowing;)
 
They dont always just dip from the filler. I've seen them open the water drain on the fuel filters or sedimentors and take a sample from there. The slightest suspicion and they'll impound the vehicle and get their boffins to look at it very closely.
