It gets better guys ****ed off well and truely...let me explain

OK,,, my brother comes over yesturday and is at mine most of the day weather gets really bad so i lend him my range rover to get home, Its never missed a beat since Rick sorted the BECM out i fired it up and he drove home 10 miles to his i had been using it all day and have done since Rick fixed it, no issues at all...

He parks it up and goes in the house for the night gets up in the morning and went to start it and it turns over and wont fire up ( ARGH FOR F**K SAKE does it sound familiar) im devistated but this is the clincher....

Since Rick sorted the ecu and Becm out ive always used the same key, a brand new key i bought from the main dealer programmed by them from the factory when i gave the keys to my brother the spare was also on the bunch the original key (with me) but he dont know which key he used to start what he did was try it no start then went and tried the other one still no start ???

Ive told him to use the grey new only but it wont start now just turns over but showing engine immobaliser fault on dash display ???

Im thinking the spare key wasnt syncd in to the new Becm and ecu maybe and cos ive always used the new one ive nver had the problem and he might not 100% sure but i think he has used the spare that i dont know if is still in sync or not...

Ethier way its bloody stranded at hishouse not starting and im proper ****ed off now....

Rob

saint im not sure ive not even been to look at it im that cheesed off right now, he said it said immobaliser activated or something...

As far as I know there is no Immobiliser message....

As attached, once we know which message we can move forward - and maybe a quick line to Rick the Pick too.....

I am thinking it could just be a key sync thing!

Cheers guys will try and get over to it tomorrow chaps and start another post of 70 pages lol...

spoke to Rick he thinks its unsyncd itself using the wrong key hope he is right i cant take much more ....

Maybe he locked it with one key and opened it with the other. Engine immobilised means it needs the EKA code imputing.

Sound like my other half a right jinks lend her rangie its stalls lend her van head gasket goes lend her van again headlight goes , keep him well away !!

Ok brew and good wishes time. Hopefully it'll be something simple and lesson learned will be 'rangies love only their owner and kick off if you let someone else drive them' ;)

I think we must have married into the same family. Every car I have owned has throws a problem every time my wife drives it. Some the issues never happen again for months until she drives it again....

AFAIK, you can't have two synced keys at any one given time. Maybe your bro, used the other key and now its probably got the ENGINE DISABLED msg.

P.S : Why would you have the spare and the original key in the same bunch anyways, kinda defeats the purpose doesn't it :)

I have two key fobs working on the car ok. Only time the second one looses it is when the battery is disconnected. Wife has the second and she can get in the car and start it if necessary when we are out and about! Easy to re synk too.

+1 but when battery disconnected i have to re sync both via ignition 1999 on

I have to re-sync the second key if it's not been used for a while as he rolling code goes out of range, never had to re-sync the keys after a battery disconnect.

Is it wrong that a slight smile crossed my face when I saw this thread?

Part of me is hoping for another Epic. I reckon we could make a Hollywood film out of this. "Rob and his Rangie", "P38 from hell!!".

You'll sort it mate. Thanks for giving me something else to read :D

Should sell the rights to 20th Century Fox. I see a franchise in the making.
