any suggestions, 1996 P38 and c/locking problems, basically using the remote handset I can lock both rear doors and tailgate front doors remain unlocked. If I manually lock drivers door with key rear doors and tailgate lock. Front passenger door remains unlocked. If I lock the front passenger door both rear doors and tailgate lock but not the drivers door basically both front doors locks have ceased to operate in conjunction with the rest of c/locking system:confused:

I had a problem with the central locking on my 1997 P38, but with yours, sounds a bit of a problem, my P38 is due to a fault in my drivers window or the tailgate switch not engaging properly, but on my classic Range Rover, I couldn't lock my Range Rover with the remote, I had a problem with a rod inside the door, don't know if that might be the problem, or the the central locking system might be damaged, but my all I can say is my classic did the same thing, and it never worked properly, didn't get it fixed, as I had to give it up cause of cost issues.
Hope that helped a little.

sounds suspiciously like both door latches have failed and will either need to be stripped down and rebuilt or replaced.

sounds like the motor units in the front doors have failed or have some sort of electrical connection fault, seems odd they both go at same time, or did they?
the switch part is working telling the system to lock/unlock but its not actually moving any lincages.........

Thanks guys, both front doors packed up at same time, the odd thing is,sitting inside the vehicle and pressing the door lock button down locks drivers door both rears and tailgate, the passenger door remains unlocked exactly the same if I lock the passenger door from inside ,its only the drivers door that doesn't lock its almost as though both front doors gone out of sychronisation.

as i said the motor units have failed, or are not being told to move, the fact the drivers door locks when you do it manualy is because your doing it manualy, and vise versa! the fact they stooped working at same time would maybe mean looking for a common point between the two!

Cheers Wills, can't wait to start fault finding on that one."Where's me readers"?
Buy a Land rover and see the world....Buy a Jap and see the next one

hmmm, i wouldnt be too worried. my front passenger door latch/lock failed and then the drivers one did. This happened both within about a week of each other.
