No reason for it not to work if its all concentric........

I'll take the advice of the engine guru at Lancaster over anyone on here any day of the week, the guys got an excellent reputation and said theres no reason why it shouldn't work if its properly turned and drilled

That being said I've found a 402 flywheel which might fit

What about the bell housing?

We'll see.......bellhousings look very similar

And you will be honest to say if it dosen't work and admit you were wrong. I'll go on record as to say it Will not fit.( with out the possibility of custom made adapter plates) I have said before just because it says GM does not mean it will fit. Cadillac you could say was the bastid child of GM. Since you have started with this Caddy project I have spent Lots of time trying to find info for you. Only conversion similar to yours is to automatic transmissions which have all the adapters. Your biggest issue will be a flywheel for a clutch and that 402 will not fit as it is. Might with major machining

I never said it'd fit but it might well do, the bellhousing was for a 305 which is a similar flat back style.

Worst case is a plate with some holes drilled, probably 10mm steel. Guy is measuring the 402 up for me, takes an 11" clutch which he might also have. Worst case again with that is I make an adaptor up seeing as Malcolm said it'll work and it wont be dangerous as long as its done to be concentric so I provide him with the flywheel and a crank template. No major machining needed, simple bolt on adaptors

doc.you do realise someone will be searching like mad to prove,or try to prove you wrong.:D:D:D

Results will help I think.

We like to see results.

Get some pics of some results up :)

griffmans build has nothing to do with this but I didn't feel he needed any input, the only thing that ####ed me off about that was scrapping the overfinch disco!!

If you don't want injection then that's more than fine, nobody runs injection on pushrod motors in the states! But what got/gets my back up is you saying you can't be arsed, it's kind of insulting tbh.

Carb & dizzy will be just fine but I'll be more inclined to appreciate the build more when we see some results.

All the best :)

Well head gaskets should hopefully arrive on weds so I'll get the block and head faces cleaned up and dried off then torque it up

Gearbox is sat on a pallet ready to come up on monday so should arrive weds as I paid for 48 hour

Its not really insulting saying you cant be arsed, its the truth! No point adding in more complexity to a build which wont benefit from it.

Results will begin to appear as new parts arrive

hi noisy.why is cba insulting.sorry but i dont get that,he is just saying it aint what he wants to do.:)

Well I don't feel a Jeremy Kyle session is in order but I'm working on the basis that Doc is shunning someone's else's ideas by saying he can't be arsed with it, he doesn't have the time of day for that, #### that, no thanks, no, etc

If I was the person suggesting the idea I would be like 'ok suit yourself you sod'

If doc had said injection would be awesome (which it would by the way, more power more of the time) but I don't have the money for it on this build and I'm in a hurry to get it in and running then if I was the person suggesting the idea I would say 'ok fair enough pal, maybe consider it once you've got the motor in etc, trust me you'll appreciate it in the long run'

So there :)

Just different ways of answering the same thing but in my book one earns you some respect for your decision the other just makes me think you're thick skinned and therefore unhelpable!
