Building myself a Raptor style centre consol!

Hey,

Even since I bought my Landy I wanted the Raptor Dash though I the found that they dont make them for my Defender..

So looked about doing it myself and its going rather well.

Made up my 'design' - attached

Simply I wanted a nice neat console to put all my gubbins in, personally i bloody hate messy wires!

My design includes space for -

Single Din head unit
CB Radio
X8 Toggle Switches
Fag Lighter
Double USB - found a nice one with dust cover

Also got space for extra toggle switches if needed.

Will be made out 2mm or 3mm ali depending on what I can cut neatly and properly.

Got one company waiting on a quote. Also finding out if I can build it at uni (got access to basic CNC machines and laser cutters)

My plan is to dremmel out the fascia of the 2002 TD5 centre console (to make space) and fit the cut Ali plate over the top giving a pro look.

Luckily ive got 2 mechanics, an enginer and an electrical engineer helping me out so all should be a class act.

Will update when bits are made!

Sounds like a good plan. One day I'll get round to making one myself for mine.

Why fit a raptor when you can make something yourself.
Here's a pic of mine.
It's changed a bit more as I've put my notebook mount on top of the radio.

Mine only cost the price of the switches & dials, all the rest was made up of metal hanging around the shed

Looks ok to me,looks like it could of been made by raptor if you put it next to the disco 1 they do.

Looks good mate. Friend of mine can powder coat/annodize.

Its 2002 TD5 according to Raptor they dont fit where going to charge me £50 to make one!

When I can do it for about £8 and will probably look as good.

Maybe... but it's 10 x better than mine! I made mine out of a block of wood, but, it is sat in a old beat up series... and does house a tablet pc (I'm the most high tech. series on the road!) I hooked it up to the engine management system and everything...

I think that will drop to bits if it gets wet , I'd make it out of something more waterproof if I were you

My raptor dash arrived today 'AS NEW' second hand, chap bought it and ever fitted it. I watched it on eBay right to the last minute then put a cheeky bid of £ 45.67 and hey presto I won can't wait to fit it at weekend :bounce::bounce:
