I'm going to fit a later bonnet release cable as below to replace my old one 1998 300Tdi. I know its a Britpart part but I've already got it. I will change it if it's crap.
Has anyone done this, is it worth doing and anyone got any photos of where to put it (TD5 owners, where are yours fixed?)
I have an X-defender pedal guard that I use and the original position of the current bonnet release fouls this.

Make sure your bonnet pull is behind the x-eng pedal lock. Just drill the bracket out & move it. Bolt back into mew place
Bearing in mind you can just reach a hand up through the front grill to grab the release cable to open the bonnet I never saw the point in trying to make the release handle secure. After keep snapping bonnet cables I ended up making my own from a length of braided wire that hung through the grill anyway. I was on the look out for a military front grill panel with the release handle in the front but they were far to expensive.

You can put the cable through some metal tube to prevent this.
Later models did have this option.

What's "later" our 96 has the failsafe option;). But then I dont need it as the 90 is never locked:rolleyes:.

Oh and our "T" handle is in the passenger side:confused:, but also looks like an I:eek:.
