I know. Looks pants!! Plus I want my bonnet clear for my strange rover sticker and my high lift mounting
so heres the next lot of pictures! as you can see all the panels and trims are back on,the polycarb rear quarter lights have been cut and fitted, front end is all back together and headlights aligned perfectly,in the last picture, its my exhaust
as for my call to vosa.allll is okay,i explained the situation to them, and because i have no altered the wheel base,i have not changed any suspension, axles, transmission or engine, i have not changed the brakes or the power of the vehicle, it does not need an sva as the original vehicles identity is intact. when i explain about the shortening of the rear over hang, i told them how id done it and what i remade the rear cross member from and they said 4x4 inch box is fine ,aslong as no suspension or axle or braking mounts have changed then it is classed as cosmetic. same with the body. soo all is good and all it needs is an mot when it runs out at the end of the year! so thats a result, me and the fabricator at work are building an alloy tank and custom boot floor mountings. im in the middle of making the rear seats so they are similiar to the side face defender seats. comments on these pics!
halo, the bloke i spoke to is the sva tester for dvla/vosa at my local test station, and it was him that said this,to top it off i then spoke to my insurance company, told them it was bobtailed, and they said thats fine and didnt ask for anything. so! if they will insure it,and vosa have told me i dont need an sva, then thats that. however.when its finished.i will take it for an IVA test to prove its structually sound. untill then. its insured.its safe.nuff said . and ta v8_disco, i like them alot, look better when painted green
i didnt pay for mine mate, i got them off a mate with a defender that brought2 inch extended ones, but i would pay more than 40 quid for a set as youll need to trim them anyway!
i suppose that is a veryy good point halo, am i being ignorant in think that discos are already 100" wheelbase? or do you mean the chassis length? well as i said,as long as your not changing the wheelbase, or the original suspenion, axles, braking, engine and transmission then you will score more than 8 points on the sva test. in effect all ive done is cut out a rusty crossmember ,cut out the rust and welded a new cross member in. let me know if you hear anymore tho!
