South African defenders had 2.8 BMW engines so other BMW variants were easy bolt on mods for SA Def's.

Well manual p38s had that engine with a r380 but i dont know if the bellhousing etc is the same as a 300tdi. I believe the hardest part of this conversion now is getting hold of a non-electronic injector pump
