Keep up! We did that on about page 3 :D :D

Well just spent the morning making a wedge that fits me highlift, took off the foot and bolted it on, log under and the weight of the disco would split the log wont it when I jack it.

No!!! what a fookin waste of a mornin, and into the bargain when lowering it back down, the handle slipped out my hand and before I caught theh fooker it released another hole and the handle went back up like a rocket. Only rattled my fingers tho but scary.

Dont think it would be easy to split a log using it with the log in between, clamping it, I think a hydraulic fooker is the next move.

Ah well design wurk, never goes the way yer want it.

Have you tried bolting it to the Jack and putting the log on the foot, and jacking up into the wedge.

I did think about that but I get the feelin that it will wobble about all over the place and it wont have enough purchase to split it. The logs are about 2ft in dia and about a foot thick, big discs, if the highlift could have done the job it would have made it so much easier getin them in the vehicle, burst the bastids on site.

Anyway the wife is home in a minute and I'm goin ta pizza hut for dinner, so I'll give plan "B" some thought.

Thanks for that.

The secret is not to try and split em in half but to aim off centre and work yer way round the edge of the log

like the lines on the drawing

reet - slight fred hijack here - wots yo recomendations fur a compressor fur shot blasting?

I have a 50 ltr and it works an air gun for a few bursts but anything like what you are talking about might struggle.

Find out the cfm's I think it is and match it to the tool and compressor, otherwise the fooker will be chasing it's arse like mine.

yer need a big fooker fer that.
my 2.5hp / 50l job will blast fer 5 sec, then you have to wait 3 mins for the pressure to build up again.
