EE had to get the fire brigade out twice to cut im free from an entanglement of mig wire, ee was like some foker from WW1 wif the black camo face. Fire brigade thought ee was bomb disposal un the bomb went orf.

The black face was frum cleaning all the paint & soot off. wiv a wire brush on an angle grinder. & I used a stick welder for most of it. but gas bottles must be a weird steel/alloy mix cause the ****er didn't want to run clean.

On a serious note, I hate to think what chemical residues were left in the metal and released when you welded it, yuc.
seems yer safe, only the oily oderant is left behind, so part from lookin like a skunk wif yer black face yer wud smell like yen.
But yer made a grand job, dunt know if yev paintid it yet, but engine manafold paint might be the jobie for it and it comes in various colours.

Or get down to Homebase and the plastikote high temp BBQ paint is good.
