Yeah read that many times!

The engine is currently in Oz bought by Les Rich Autos i believe.

It was good and powerful but apprently had huge reliability issues not to mention snapping axles like toothpicks

New airbox, thinking this -

Mounted on the bulkhead, loose the silly allen bolts and replace with some clasps + a gasket to keep it water tight. Then add a hole for the APP sensor.

Good for 300bhp according to ITG

Had the Toyos on for about 500miles now. Really like them! No louder than my old ST Maxxs, road grip feels good, wet grip is fairly decent and they work very well when you hit an unexpected deep puddle. So far very impressed for the price.

I missed the white lettering so I did some  then used some tyre lacquer from Buzzweld :oops: Looks good though :D

Also cleaned up my terrible welding on the turbo intake pipe. Ground back flush, cleaned up, CIO followed by Resin+ Lacquer in Copper to match the rest! Really happy with that now:D

Also managed to snap the bloody EGT adaptor! Luckily managed to remove it without issue. However didnt have an M14 bung to replace it. VERY Luckily it turns out that the barbs from the fuel filter housing are the same size! So cut the barb off a damaged one, drilled it out to 9mm and tapped to 1/8NPT. Then fitted a 1/NPT bung. Will do while a new proper adaptor is en route.

Fixed the VERY annoying rattle from my difflock linkage, quite a few bits had come loose. Refitted it all only to find I didnt have high range  handnt put it back quite right . While I was at it added a couple sheets of Dodo matt to the transmission tunnel and glued to old foam soundproofing back in. Made quite the difference!

Removed the airbox in the hope my new ITG box would arrive, alas no. So added Dodo matt all behind there as well, + some 20mm thick closed cell foam. Also made a big difference!

Also treated to a full service!

Finally my cruise control works! By works I mean the Nanocom registers that the CC has been turned on and that the set function works. However on road testing, does not engage. Which I suspected would be the case, so some ECU work required, Gareth at Empire is helping me sort this out :D Be lovely on my long drives!

Not good. Was it a small rust bubble that you poked at? I had that with my old series 3 rear crossmember. The smallest of bubbles and I had an in and a half rust hole underneath!:(

You’ve got strong fingers! As suggested bodge it to stop water ingress until you can grind it back And see the damage you may get lucky and the rust worm hasn’t got too far and you can weld in some good metal In situ or, galv bulkhead

There was nothing to it!! A light breeze would have knocked it thru.

Im pretty sure it has spread down below the wing and slightly round the corner toward the hinge.

The inside is fine as far as i can tell.

I had one like that. Looked like nothing, poked at it and ended up with a small hole. I didn’t have the time to fix it straight away, so started searching for a galved bulkhead. Within 5-6 weeks the passenger side had split down the side where the top hinge is. I can only guess that the rust was spreading from the inside out, and this was the first I noticed. Hopefully yours isn’t that bad and it’s a local repair to that top corner.

Touched the bulkhead corner and my finger went through :(:(:(:(

Any tips for a temp fix? Wont have the time to properly fix it till xmas

+1 For Gaffa Tape - looks to be plenty of evidence of a previous fill and paint
Gotta love gaffa tape, add a 13mm spanner, lump hammer and some WD40 and it’s the Defender toolkit complete.....
