Anyone have a Defender 3.9 V8? Need help!

VIC ? Not sure what that is.
Matriculation is re registering in Portugal.Inspection is mot which is done by a centre not a garage if it fails you repair yourself or go to a garage for work then take back within 4wks fail again then you have 2wks there are other conditions that can be applied re carrying passengers etc.
Matriculation inspection requires vehicle to be roadworthy and conform to spec and have type approval from manufacturer or one agreed by them in Land-Rovers case it's Fiaal the main dealer they issue a certificate which you must present at the centre when matriculation inspection is done,this is the point I'm at my 101 is on an export certificate from uk not in my name and has been here since 2002 it doesn't have a V5 as that was surrendered in the UK my agent has obtained all necessary docs from main dealer,IMT "vehicle licencing" to register it as a commercial due to having only 2 seats it has sat for 12 yrs under a tree 5yrs ago I met the owner and last year he sold it to me it will be registered in his name on the new Portuguese documents then transferred into my name reason being he has to sign for everything up to the number plates. So if myslf and my mechanic mate can sort misfire when it warms up and bleed brakes tomorrow then it's lowloader and inspection Tuesday (were doing a barbeque and beers at the same time so Mondays out lol).

They don't give a monkeys about your "custom wood interior or other mods" they won't accept the vehicle does not conform to what the VIN plate indicates what engine should be fitted that's why your asking for help, fit the correct engine and then you'll maybe find the other mods will be a problem ...
It seems to me that your "extended experience" has not reached Portugal yet lol.
I'll meet for a beer anytime where you based.

You wouldn't tell us what benefit someone taking their Land Rover to an MOT station in southern England (what does the geographical location have to do with anything) had for you, or which piece of information or other metric you were looking for...

I doubt anyone is going to jump in their V8 90 and head down to the MoT station, pay for this and risk it failing because someone on a forum, who, with all due respect is not well known, requests it. For all we know this could be an elaborate scam.

I have a Defender that has had 3 engines in it, it came with a 2.5 Petrol, it then had a 2.5NA and now a 300tdi - each time I sent back my V5 with an engine update, new logbook came back with new engine no. and engine type - no questions asked, as simple as that. If I wrote Volvo 2.4 D5 engine, they would put that on my logbook - the MoTer doesn't give a monkeys what engine is in it, as long as the details more or less match up (they don't look closely) and the thing isn't hanging out or spewing black smoke.

So, getting a UK MoT really is not proof of anything, it is proof our system is easy enough to update details and no one actually checks.

The number of posts you have posted is relevant, no one here knows you, you could have cooked up a scam (sorry but lets face it) and you will do this again next month on another forum. The more posts and the longer you are about gives you some credibility and the longer you are on a forum the more likely to meet or deal with people in real life. No one has an issue with a new member, we all need to start somewhere but like any relationship you need to gain trust and without that people cannot be expected to go to any sort of lengths beyond free forum advice.

I think we can now see what you are trying to do, but I don't see why the Portuguese vehicle authorities would accept a UK MoT, which is just a sheet of unofficial looking A4 paper that has some other Land Rover's details on it as proof of anything.

So Ive spent about 30 mins going through all your replies, some genuinely want to help, some want to show themselves for the fool they are and some have a mix of both.

They asked me for an MOT of my car and I would rather not transport it back and forth so they said if I get an MOT of a similar one they will put it through, Dont understand what you mean about changin the engine number but Id rather not.

Why not put your 90 on the ferry and take it along to the "specified" MOT station and get it MOTd properly? That way there could be no confusion or hint that anything is amiss.

And just for the record, I would speak exactly as I find to anyone stood in front of me as that way there could be no doubt or confusion about what or how I said anything.

The car has been in Spain & Portugal for a long time, it is not stolen and there are no rodents thank you.

How long has the vehicle been here was it on export when it arrived or reported as being matriculated on arrival.
As I said before if it has been modified it will not conform for matriculation ever.
Where's it's current UK mot or is it another illegal UK plated vehicle exceeded its time limit out of the UK running around untaxed no mot and invalid insurance.
If it was legal you wouldn't need help as you'd have relevant documentation,and yes it does need UK road tax to be legal here before someone says otherwise.
As said before I am at the moment matriculating a 101 forward control 3.5v8 all standard and matching numbers and they check everything believe me with photographic evidence before you get to the matriculation inspection which is different to the road inspection.

Im not putting the diesel engine in, I want to keep the petrol one. My experience is in Spain and the rest of europe. Next time youre in southern Spain let me know!

My uk papers fully document the v8 engine with the engine number, thats not the issue. The issue is entertaining the portuguese authorities with what they request. I dont question what they want Im simply trying to get it, and I get what youre saying that no one knows me but I honeslty dont have the time to butter anyone up. Ive told the forum what I need and If anyone is willing to help please message me

You've lined up specific test station to mot a specific type of motor to pass a test that you don't specifically own? That's not good right there.
