Got the military history back today, 78-88 CSU Thetford, 88-92 TMP Thetford and 92-98 6/7 PWRR until she was released.

Thetford I gather is an army training centre though I've no idea what PWRR is?

Cab heater working and started stripping out the stretcher rails.

Can them rails work for hanging stuff on or attaching things like cabinets, sinks, stoves. shelvings, water tanks, inverters, etc????????

Quite heavy c section, I'm sure it'll be useful somewhere :)

PWRR=Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment

Cheers, just managed to get that far :eek: She was invoiced to PWRR the day before they were officially formed on the 9/9/92. Hoping some knowledgable folk on EMLRA will be able to tell me more from the UIN and Unit numbers.

Any way a few more piccies of todays progress.

As she was when I picked her up...

Rails of and removing support brackets...

And the new spacious interior...

BB that smells like it has alot of potential for a finished project. Limiting factor is just money like anything else. Just a question is a 300tdi doable in them?

Yes a 2 or 300 is a simple near bolt on job same as any other 109 but I'm going to stick with the 2 1/4 for now as she runs nicely and is quick enough to suit my needs.

Of course if I end up loading my life in the back I might reconsider

you will probably add a ton to it by the time you are done. Only thing is green laning in it with some of the trees and bushes I have seen posted. But the northern lanes and whales look like fun in something like that. A good winch and a ground anchor, along with all the other stuff, and could have a good time doing a walk about with it

About the same height as a Series hardtop with a roof rack and 8'' wider so I don't think there's many places she won't go......couple of weeks to the next Wales trip so we'll see then :)

just read through completely from post 1

from what I read you are proud of your achievements my friend,
its almost as if I`m a proud dad reading through...lol

I too love oddities in vehicles, and your 2/4 stretcher wagon is a great odity to look at.

we used to have one just parked up nearby, but I`ve not really looked for it as its on a road I dont use much,,
but will make a detour to see if its still there..

keep the rebuild story going, I find it Interesting, its great..

(ps, I never knew yer mum) ;)

AND do what with the 109 Not many people would buy a series with no engine. Well not sensible people anyway.

Make far more sense to sell 109 and use money to buy an old disco. pinch engine and scrap the rest. :cool:

But then I'd have nothing to admire when I go to the shops ?

PWRR = Prince of Wales Royal Regiment

6/7th was a TA regt I think

TMP = Transport Motor Pool

You sure it's CSU not OSU? OSU is Operational Support Unit

The injun in the 2a is staying....so's the 2 1/4 in the ambulance for now cause it runs sweet. If it goes bang then I'd consider a 200 but not swapping for the hell of it.

Definately CSU Thetford but google int being my friend.

8hrs (with a couple from Beastlet thrown in) rubbing down the paint work today and managed to slap a bit of paint on a few panels before the rain ruined it all :rolleyes:

Cleaned out the panel joins on the roof, resealed and rubbed down the ridges of chipped paint work...

And first coat.... Bronze Green....not in the pics but got the two front wings and the bonnet done as well before rain stopped play...

Not happy with the finish because one of the many layers of paint seems to react with the new stuff but I'm going to leave it to dry and flatten it back before a second coat and hopefully that'll improve it.

Not going to strip back to metal because she's going to get scratched up anyway but even I have standards :p
