you cant file it ,it is only a very thin layer apart from you scrape soft metal, sometimes refitting gets them more square, plus you could try fitting rear cam journal in to bearing as is from rear see if its still tight

fanny it seemed tighter when I went back to it tonight, couldnt turn it by hand but as soon as out of that back one its like butter

right I am off to drif it out with a bit of wood lol, if I knock it in can it be removed from the inside of the block with the crank and rods in?

Thanks fanny, yeah its getting there, I just got in lol (POSTED THIS AT 2AM BUT IT DIDNT POST FOR SOME REASON) - working on your own with one arm fooked is no joke

so adjusted the back bearing with a piece of copper pipe, all I had that I could get in there with it on the stand I know not ideal (thats after cutting the old cam up to make a tool that didnt work in the end, not easy with one arm lol)

it still bound but was better so I fecked a bit more and made it worse and then about the same as at the start, got ****ed off so I thought if I span the cam up it will at best bed in and at worse mark it so I can see where its binding so spun it with the drill and it marked the front bearing much more than the back and marked the cam a little (it would buff out)

then I fecked with the front bearing in the same fashion and made it better then worse, by this point my arm and back were hurtin and I was v tired at 1.30am so I decided to check again and although there was some marking on one edge there was more around the oil hole as if the bearing was deformed around it. now if I hadnt already cut the old cam I could have used it to dress that flat (well to the correct curve) but it was too late for that in oh so many ways so I thought feck it! I had fitted the old dizzy drive gear and the new cam anyway to get a grip on and the cam was the right shape so I just gave it some mild stress relieving blows from every angle with it fully home already of course and although not textbook or recommended as a method it only takes 1/2lb at 10 inches off center to turn the cam now so I am hoping I can chalk that one up as a success :D
