2006 vogue

hi there
im brand new to this so please bear with me
im looking to buy a range rover vogue 3.0tdc v6 with 48000 miles on the clock,it will be bought from a main dealer so will come with a years warrenty

are there any potential pitfalls i should know about ?? ie suspension failures ?? engine faults ?? electrical faults ??

Have a look here. Dont be put off by the list though, you will find a forum for any car you can think off and that too will be full of woes. The difference with the Range Rover is there is a huge community of people who will go out of their way to help (and take the mick) and all the problems will be well documented.

Make sure you are looking at the right motor, there is no V6 Range Rover, what's tdc?
Either Td6, straight six BMW engine, not the same one as in the P38, but I don't know if it is just an update or completely different.
TdV8 Engine unique to LR (RR & RR Sport) made by Ford inspired by TdV6 in the Discvovery

to be very honest the salesman said the disco 3 and rr sport were better cars ,he said it was noisy, drank diesel,not very comfy etc etc.
had a test drive for about 20 miles and we(the wife) loved it

Hi, we have a TD6 03 model and have got to say it's the best vehicle we have owned. Fuel consumption is quite high but that has to be expected given the weight and lack of aerodynamics. It will average 22 -23mpg around town but over 30 on a run. We have had a couple of niggling problems 1 injector failed which is a common problem and the air suspension pump failed costing over £400 to fix, but if you get a good comprehensive warranty you will soon iron out any minor problems. TD6 engine is not the most powerful lump out there and can be quite noisy at high revs. If you can afford the TdV8 in later cars get one as they sound supurb and go like stink.
Also make sure all the electrics work especially the sat nav/ tv/ telephone system as failure is very expensive.

the saleman said the same about the v8 but non for sale within 60 mile for below£30000 and we have a budget of about £25000

we get a full 12 month land rover warrenty with the vehicle so after 12 months i hope everythings gone wrong that will go wrong

I used to think the TD6 was a fine engine, until the TDV6 appearer in the Discovery, then the TDV8 appeared in the Range Rover, and theTD6 started sounding decidedly agricultural. However just because better engines have appeared, it doesn't mean the older ones have got worse, just that the goal posts have moved. I still think the TD6 is a fine car.

Wow £25k is a fantastic budget, I paid £12,500 for my 03 HSE with 60k miles so you must be looking at 06/07 cars. After driving a later V8 motor when mine was in for a recall I would try and either raise your budget or screw the dealer down on price and go for the better engine. Whilst the TD6 is ok it does sound agricultural and far less refined than the V8, you will also get far better residual values.
