It can be the metal at the inner end of the shaft has turned [burred] over as a result of it being driven while still having the broken shaft in place. It may hammer out but removing the hub and the stub axle may well be the best answer.

This is the diff that is installed, it is a Rover diferential, right?

Oh, no, that's a Salisbury. Your replacement diff won't do. Salisbury diffs are tough, and tricky to work on. 24 splines on both ends of the shaft.

Oh no, so the extra diff is useless :/
And the Salisbury are hard to work on, so i better forget removing the welded parts, right?
Argh. Driving with a welded diff was not my intention :(

Currently stuck here, the shaft wont go out and i do not have the tool to remove the big nut that holds the hub.
This Landy didnt have the best start for me I Guess...

If you can find a replacement axle you'll be fine. Parts for Salisbury axles are available. And there are great tutorials on YouTube. Britannia restorations, Mike, Covers a full rebuild.

With a new half shaft i get moving again, but remain stuck on a welded diff.
Anyway, I could later on try to find a good priced Salisbury diff localy and change it.

First things first: my priority Will BE to learn howto remove the stub axle so i can remove the broken half shaft and source a replacement, ar least now i know it has 24 tooth on each SIDE :)

When you get the broken shaft out just do not bother with a replacement until you find another axle or decide to fix the diff you have. At least it will not scrub on the corners, after all that is how it has been working for some time.
I would remove the Salisbury diff rear plate and have a look in there and see what is going on.
