hi,
I'm a new battery for my 1964 series 2a diesel .
struggling even after pre heating for 40 seconds in this weather.
looking at quality rather than ££££'s
thanks
lg

Is it cranking fast or slow and laboured?
i disconnected the battery early december.
it sat in the garage for about 6 weeks .
reconnected the battery gave it about 40 seconds on pre heat (very cold day about -2) .
it sounded like it wasn't going to start then it sort of grumbles into life 🤣
bit like me 🫣

A decent battery will maintain 12.6 V and rise quickly after use.
With ignition on turn on headlights then try to start, if they dim considerably then battery usually issue.
U could try jumping from another car, and if it starts quicker than usual then almost certainly the battery.
But to get back to your question, Halfords do a good range with long guarantees, they are easy to deal with but not cheap.
The likes of GSF do an online battery search which you can then buy direct or go through local factor.

Halfords batteries, especially the less common ones, tend to sit on the shelf without getting a regular charge

looks like yuasa is a rubbish brtand now i heard lots say they have no faith in that brand now, the oem batteries used in some toyotas was not even yuasa some fs brand or panasonic and i found out the oem batteries get a long time my parents corolla got almost 10 years i think before it was replaced, i had a exide in mine a philipine made one and i had 7 years on it and the winter was its last run and that was in 2022. i defo dont like century batteries we have them in australia but i have heard of people that have had them fail in a few years.
