I'm off to Toulouse tomorrow to pick up a mechanical diesel pump. Once it's running (hah!) it might be a good idea to take it on a test drive to Poitiers...
A Château would be far too posh for me, caravan or Chambre d'Hote is more my style
If it still doesn't go when you've fecked it up with a mechanical pump, let me know, if the interior is good I might give you a few quid for it as a non runner. I have a spare auto box I could fit in it
Well, to conclude, there IS a stage of becm lock down that disables the central locking and thus the ability to enter the code. On one of my P38's disconnecting battery and computers and forgetting about it for a week reset it completely.
Our local Land Rover dealer, who's service manager served his apprenticeship on P38's, charges 60 euros to reset the computer (admittedly trade rate).
There's a bit of modification and fabrication to be done to fit the mechanical pump, but it's not overly complex.
I've left the bosch engine management computer in place to run the glow plugs etc, but there's no reason why you can't have an analogue P38 if you want.
Here at LandyZone we have plenty of very knowledgable members so if you have any questions about your Land Rover or just want to connect with other Landy owners, you're in the right place.
