    Angle grinder may be easier than hacksaw if you've got one, suggested hacksaw as I didn't realise how thick it was:(

    Hacksaw through the metal floating ring and remove it, if you get no vibration I'd just leave it.

    Check the inter cooler hoses for splits, usually the long one on the left hand side of the engine looking from the front. The hose often rubs through on the bracket on the inlet manifold.

    When changing my filter I found there was no need to drill out the rivets as they had already corroded through leaving the pump and filter held in place by the pipes.

    MB I owned few years ago could have the mirrors programmed for auto fold on locking doors by dealer, never bothered.

    Mirrors fold when you move the button downwards (I think) certainly don't fold when locking doors.

    The unipart pads fitted when I bought my Freelander squealed from the word go, turned out that the dealer had incorrectly fitted them, unipart pads have a bigger chamfer on one pad unlike some other makes.

    Timpsons in Tesco's here in Helston do them, Daughter needed one for her Peugeot and the chap cut the key and programmed it to her car.

    If the long inter cooler hose is original the lower clip is usually inaccessible, using a small open end spanner on the clip will make it easier to unfasten.

    Sounds like the alternator could be on the way out if all the connections are tight, belt not slipping and new battery.

    Wouldn't have thought it would make any difference. I've done all the engine mods including Rover Rons and more than happy with the performance.

    My TD4 takes about the same time to heat up to normal.

    53 reg runs from Sept 2003 until end February 2004. 03 runs march 03 until end August 2003.
