Sounds like the bearings have gone, possibly so seriously theres enough movement for the blades to touch the housing. Id get it whipped off and checked out!!! cheers tom

Check your CV joints, sounds very much like it could be them as opposed to your diff. Diffs are pretty hard wearing so id be surprised if it was that. Plus they'd be more likely to make noise when driving with plenty of friction involved and then not when just spinning them. cheers tom

Nah the casings are identical, cant remember about mounts, the defender ones would mount straight onto the disco one though. If anyone wants a disco R380 i have one forsale done 98k good as new. cheers tom

It is possible but the gear levers are the other way around to a 90, so you end up with the gear change lever almost in the middle seat. cheers tom

Yeah get the standard height ones. Ive got the shorter ones and although their good offroad if your ever driving at a decent lick on say a rutted bit of rough road / farm track, they'll bottom your shockers out. Really starting to annoy me now so may well be changing them!!! Cheers Tom
