New Landy wanting a 90 or 110 defender any available sales or advise taken, bit clueless please help

Erm, I don't like to advertise here, but my 1998 Defender 90 will be for sale in a few weeks.... It's a 1998 300tdi hard top that's had a galvanised chassis as well as a lot more. It has a solid bulkhead and has had a lot of money spent on it (all brakes, recon transfer box, radiator, head...

    300tdi Doors

I went the rebulding doors with new bottoms and galv steel skins in the end. Half way through at the moment. Tbh I wouldn't do it again... On the positive side they don't actually need masses of welding so I might have 1 or 2 of the YRM repair pieces coming up for sale soon!

    Defender 90 speedo over-reading

Its easy to do but awkward, its a little nylon thing. All you need to do is undo one bolt on the transfer box that holds in a fork which holds the gear in and swap the gear. I went from a blue one to a red one (I think) as mine was overreading. It is perfect now.

Who said swapping door skins was easy??

Thanks both, makes me feel better. I'll try and continue today. @stewd, did you leave the window channel in still? If so how did you get to the metal bent over?

    Ringer?

I thought if it was done a certain When we were getting ready for the rally I was buying some cars for other rally teams in other countries to earn some rally cash, once I forgot to insure the car I was driving and a police car followed us for a while and then went. We were manically trying to...

    Defender Td5

I would say that is cheap for one of those with that mileage. I would have thought at least 10k

Who said swapping door skins was easy??

Someone on here said it was easy, it was't going too badly at the start... Wish I had bought the £3k ones from Keith Gott!!

Who said swapping door skins was easy??

I've calmed down a bit now so thought I would ask on here. I tried to do the door skins over the weekend, was going easily until I get to the bit where the skins wrap around the window edge. Tried to get them out, but couldn't get the plastic inserts around the glass out, ended up smashing them...

    Another scam?

There are quite a few. The most recent scams ask you to pay the full price and they will ship it to you but quote the fact that you are covered through ebay if it goes wrong, even though it wouldn't actually be through ebay as it is classified and I *think* you have to use paypal. The other...

    Another scam?

It's a scam, there are loads. It is farming contact details. The best thing to do is report it to ebay using the report button. I've done a lot

    Clunking on bumps and turning

Thank you for the reply, though over 2 years later it has been resolved... FYI it was a nut that had come loose on the steering, easy fix but apparently hard to get to.

Radio not as good as it could be!

Defenders are really simple, any one from halfords etc should fit. It's just awkward to fit the adaptors that fit behind the stereo. I've got a Sony one in at the moment, but preferred the JVC one I had before that

    Swivel Balls grease or oil?

Another vote for one shot grease from me

I wired in and put some led side lights in mine, even with halogen lenses it makes it look a lot more modern

    Trouble free wipers, NOT!

Mine do random sweeps, so normally they are fine, but every now and again they hit the edge of the windscreen... I've changed everything so no idea what causes that!

99 Fender Td5 prep for summer travel!

I don't think there are that many things you would need as long as they have been checked before, i would take fuel filter, drive belt, ujs, air filter if it will be dusty. A spare sachet of swivel grease also wouldn't go amiss.
