    L322 Battery Drain

My previous decent 08 Vogue suffered earth strap failure. an additional earth strap cured a lot of starting problems. i suspected my partner's Discovery had the same trouble, but a battery change was the answer, it was 11 years old.

    L322 Battery Drain

Sounds to me like it's not man enough for the job. Maybe a short-life battery? My partner has recently (or rather I have) changed the battery on her 2013 Disco TDV6, that was showing 12.4v. during starting dropping to 11 v, and don t "poor" on a 10 second load test. But then it was the original...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Maybe that's because they didn't look to see what else had to come out! Their price for the cooler has a good mark-up for the Nissen unit, but hey ho, it's got to be done. The car is worth spending a bit on TLC. Just waiting for the dealer to aagree to getting it done though. On my "other" car...

    Old age Land Rover Insurance.

You really do need to shop around for insurance. when I was "shopping" 2 months ago I put in some dummy quotes using my partner's name. It worked out some 40% cheaper for the same level of cover. Tempted though I was, I don't want to get caught "fronting".

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Drove mine to and from work this evening, about 35 miles each way, mostly on motorway at "cruise control" speed. The low coolant light didn't show its face today. I forgot to mention in the morning I took it to a fairly local non-specialist garage, they gave a good estimate for changing the oil...

    Old age Land Rover Insurance.

I've got 2 vintage buses, a 1952 AEC Regal IV half-decker and a1954 Guy single decker, fully comp on both is about £500 a year. Both are certified for PSV use, MoT exempt etc, can't use them for hire and reward but can use them fully loaded for free services in connection with vehicle rallies...

AAAAGH! Does ANYONE offer fully comp cover on driving other vehicles?!!

I've just renewed mine with Allianz, fully comp on own car, drive other cars 3rd party only, over 70, bus driver, sensible price includes commuting to/from work and full EU cover. Last lot was LV, they upped it to £1200 from about £800, Allianz about £800. Allianz are part of LV!! Go figure.. My...

    L322 4.4tdv8 change oil cooler

The coolant I'm told is dripping down the bell housing. I'm not fit enough these days to crawl underneath as I fractured 2 ribs a few weeks ago! Water pressure is usually about 1 bar when running on the old stuff I work on, not sure what the running pressure is on the LR products. Oil pressure...

    L322 4.4tdv8 change oil cooler

Yes it ought to be the seller's problem to fix, but sadly he's another one who fails to respond to emails. I need the car for work (I drive rail replacement buses at night), the depot is a 35 mile drive each way. The car seller is only 25 miles away as the crow flies but the Thames Estuary gets...

    L322 4.4tdv8 change oil cooler

Well I finally took the plunge and got a "bargain basement" 60 reg TDV8 Vogue. I took it to my local indie garage in Bexhill for a check-over and they found the brakes worn as are a number of suspension bushes, not surprising really, I'd expected to find that with the car having done 138000...

If hazard light switch is fitted, then it has to work. There is a date when hazard lights were a compulsory fitment but can't remember what that date is.

But in mine the sockets in the boot seem to be permanently live as I can plug in a fridge or inspection light in there. But inside the car is switched, I use it for the phone charger and that switches off with the ignition.

Most of the cigarette lighter socket are wired into the battery via a fuse so they are permanently live. So yes, plug the 12volts from the charger into there. The other end goes into the mains. (just in case you really are thick as you make the claim to be :) )

What did you do with your Range Rover today

What I did with mine was to go to work and back in it. Despite the small problems picked up by Terrain on their inspection, the car seems so good I rally want to. keep it. The brakes and suspension bits I'd expect to do sometime with a car that has 137000 miles on it, the oil cooler leak, I'e...

I'm no longer agile enough to lay on my back under a series 2 to fix it! :) I doubt the "ride quality" of it would suit my back problems either!
