What magnetic connector are you using ?

I used these. I 3D printed the housing in red and got a separate spring loaded flap.

What I did with mine was to go to work and back in it. Despite the small problems picked up by Terrain on their inspection, the car seems so good I rally want to. keep it. The brakes and suspension bits I'd expect to do sometime with a car that has 137000 miles on it, the oil cooler leak, I'e contacted the seller about it and am punting around for prices to do the job. I could possibly do it myself but I hate working on modern things. The car drives nicely, no rattles bangs or clonks and everything seems to work as it should. At 70mph the engine is purring along at about 1500 rpm and doing an average of 28 mpg, that's with heated seats and heaters on as well.

No, nor is it needed. As far as I'm aware, a fully charged battery does not sulphate. The long life of my batteries supports this.
No it's not needed if the battery is over 12.4v but i for one don't always make journeys long enough to fully charge the battery. For example I'll stop at the supermarket on the way home, then it's about a mile home which isn't enough.

Many cars more modern than the p38, with battery management and smart alternators will not fully charge by design, prioritising fuel efficiency over battery state. If you have stop/start, then typically you do lots of stop/start at the end of your journey with traffic lights, queues etc as you get close to home or work

Even my l322 will be in a state of discharge by the time i've left doors open unloading the shopping for a few mins

That is why the solar charger is plugged in as soon as I get home.

Bought her a second new battery in 2 days 🤦‍♀️ New battery turned up, mechanic brought it across to fit. It was too long and won't fit in battery box.🤦‍♀️ Soooo jump started and followed him to the garage. Nice new Yuasa put in. Vroom vroom went the Golden Girl 😁🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
Other battery going back tomorrow. For anyone who needs to know Numax does not fit. And it's weirdly light 😮🤷‍♀️

Mine's still on the Platinum one I put in about ten years ago.

So going back too my ignition switch being broken and needing a fuse taken out and reinserted to be able to turn the key has been sorted,
Some dumb dumb here put the parcel shelf back in and at some point had hit the tailgate release button and didnt notice the boot lights staying on flattening my battery,
Away to unpark it tonight and take it home for the weekend as i bloody miss it.

Same issue as the Golden Girl. I do short journeys and I do them infrequently. As such I accept she will need jump starts more frequently and a new battery more frequently. It is what it is. I'm not going on 3hr/60mile* drives just to charge the battery because I went to the shop 1 mile down the road.

* which is what it takes when you live in rural, twisty road, tourist infested areas.

Otto lives on the trickle charger due to resting for weeks between runs usually. But easy enough with the extension reel from the outside socket so we can also run the dehumidifier in him. Extension lead runs in between the tailgate sections much like Backinblack's magnetic link.

I put my battery on charge 'every now and then' (more often in winter) and do a recondition cycle at either end of winter (Nov/April or thereabouts), to try and keep the battery in decent shape.
Anybody else bother?
I'm not able to do that BUT I have often thought of a trickle charger. I have one that is run from mains, but on double checking it's not strong enough for the L322. Which leads to trying to understand what you have all been speaking about. Namely different trickle chargers.
The solution for me seems to be a solar one, as I don't have a 'safe' way to run an extension cable out of house to car. I am probably being a bit thick here, but why do they say put into cigarette lighter or OBD? Does this not draw from battery rather than charge to?
Being thick placed aside, are there any solar ones to avoid and that are recommended, L322 specific?

Thanks 😁👍

Most of the cigarette lighter socket are wired into the battery via a fuse so they are permanently live. So yes, plug the 12volts from the charger into there. The other end goes into the mains. (just in case you really are thick as you make the claim to be :) )

More modern cars like the l322 have a switched live for the ciggy lighter so not much good :(

But in mine the sockets in the boot seem to be permanently live as I can plug in a fridge or inspection light in there. But inside the car is switched, I use it for the phone charger and that switches off with the ignition.
