As above change it for the BMW breather mod. Did mine at the beginning of the year and found it easy to do. Paid £23 for mine from a BMW main dealer.

No you won't break anything you'll just make it a lot better than what it is now. Been using it at every fill-up for over a year now, even feels better towing the caravan.

Don't forget to add 250ml of cheap 2 stroke mineral oil in every tank full. Makes it run better and a lot quieter.

There's lots about the FBH on the forum, but what I would do is set up a switch (like a key fob, can't think what's it's called) so that you can remotely turn it on and off from the house before you get in the car if needed. Have a search there's loads about it there...

Love my 2006 TD4 because I live on top of a mountain in South Wales, and since owning it from new I have never been stuck on the bottom of the mountain when it snows. It's great on fuel, cumfy, fun to drive and pulls my caravan with ease. Would I have another one YES.
