    Project 90 - Bustrucket's Bodged Banger

Changed my temp sender unit last night (it had a Disco sensor which made the gauge read beyond the red permenantly), now assuming the new one is reading right, temp is holding just below the red when doing 60ish. At idle though it sits around half way on the gauge, so I'm guessing the rad is...

    Pre-Production Discoverys?

Apparently it's a Coventry registration. Waiting for my mate to get back to me, though I probably won't see him till later in the week.

    Project 90 - Bustrucket's Bodged Banger

Fitted me cubby box yesterday. Had to modify the back to sit against the bulkhead as with the Disco 'box fitted it wouldn't sit in the normal position. Just need to staple down the vinyl now and jobs a good 'un.

    Pre-Production Discoverys?

I've possibly been offered a pair of Discos cheap. One is an M-reg 300Tdi, but the other is apparently an 'F' registered 200-series. I know about the C-JKG examples, and the G-WAC's, but were there any pre-production models registered on an F-plate? Both have rot issues (I'm interested in the...

    Project 90 - Bustrucket's Bodged Banger

According to the man behind the counter at LRP in Camborne the splines are slightly different and a 4-bolt arm will not tighten onto a six bolt box. Don't suppose there's a part number stamped on it anywhere?

    Project 90 - Bustrucket's Bodged Banger

Chassis has certainly had its fair share of patches, and it needs at least two fairly big ones to get through its next test (possibly a 3rd near the rear axle too). But certainly far from scrap.

    Project 90 - Bustrucket's Bodged Banger

PM'd. When I took the intercooler - inlet manifold pipes off, there was ****loads of black crud inside the pipe and the manifold. I guess this is from the EGR valve? Already done the EGR blank but is it worth having the manifold off and having it cleaned? Also carpeted the rear tub a week...

    Project 90 - Bustrucket's Bodged Banger

I didn't go looking for a 90. I wanted a Disco 2 TD5, auto and as high a spec as possible. Comfort and the ability to do long distance journeys were important, as well as load carrying ability. Then this popped up on eBay: 4 days to go, 70 miles away, £1500 start price and no bids. Long...

    300Tdi conversion issues

Will do. AMR 3321 seems to be the part number I need.

    300Tdi conversion issues

Trying to iron out a few niggles on the 90, I bought it with a 300Tdi/R380 from a Disco already installed. Two issues: firstly the temp gauge almost constantly reads maximum temp - only when the engine is warming from cold does it quickly cross from cold to hot. The engine isn't overheating...

Anyone planning any laning round Cornwall anytime soon?

    Considering an expensive Classic...

Well, I've been to see it...... All I can say is that if that's the best Rangie he's seen, he either hasn't seen another one or does a roaring trade as a bull**** merchant. (I'll come back to that last bit later). The rear bumper is bolted on straight through to the alloy panels, the boot...

    Considering an expensive Classic...

Just spoke to the owner - reckons the only welding it needed for MoT was to the rear of the front nearside inner arch. I'll check everywhere VERY closely then.

    Considering an expensive Classic...

I agree - there's definitely some winter & snow tax on 4x4 prices at the moment. However, I need it to tow a car trailer, and i'd rather find a good one now that'll be good for the next 2-3 years.

Donut tank sounds good to me. Can you get ones that hold the jam-filled variety or does it have to be plain/iced 'ring' donuts?
