    Oil leak

Took Freelander to Fox Land Rover today. They lifted it, and invited me to see what was what. One of the coolant hoses to the IRD was badly fitted and split. A copious amount of silicone had been gunned around the collar with the O ring, that slides into the gearbox. It could clearly be seen...

    Oil leak

The saga continues. Due to lockdown horse****, the Freelander sat on the drive, asked SWMBO to use my motor for a while because I had not used it for months, . Anyhoo. After she had used it a few times, I noticed oil on the drive. UH. She took it back to Intergears, came back after 1 day, she...

    Good lr garage fred

www.intergears.co.uk/ Wife took her Freelander Td4 to Intergears with a gear oil leak from the IRD/transfer box. 1 day later she had it back to discover it still leaked. Took it back again. 1 day later she had it back again to discover it still leaked. A week later, they had it back yet again...

2003 Freelander TD4 rear tail lights not working

    On SWMBO's Freelander I wired the top set as tail/stop, and the bottom set as tail/fog. I got over the spare wheel covering the O/s light cluster by fitting a row of LED's wired up to the interior light, so they come on when ever she opens the back door. {IMG}

    Oil leak

Strange, I thought I concluded this thread, anyways. Oil leak was from the IRD, IRD and driveshaft seals replaced as requested. Engine casing dry as a bone. Big smiley face :) Arctic :p right back at ya.

    Oil leak

Report as follows from Intergears today. Oil dried off that was very clean, taken for a short run. O/S drive shaft weeping a little. N/S drive shaft not leaking. Oil on gearbox and IRD lower casing, originating from the gearbox/IRD. Oil definitely leaking from the IRD, that about mirrored my...

    Oil leak

This is a bit of a resurrection, but I do not understand how the common rail switch is screwed into the gearbox, causing gearbox oil leak. Or was it a diesel leak.

    Oil leak

I am convinced it is gearbox oil, I wish it were from a driveshaft, if it is I do not know how, I would tackle that, but I am not clambering about under it messing with the transmission.

    Oil leak

So I changed the oil, all the filters. Took it for a spin. Wifes FL who only uses it locally, first time she went out when I was on the drive I noticed an oil patch on the drive. Oil dripping from holes in undertray. Not filter, must be the sump plug washer, oil looked clean, but hey ho oil has...

any Mot testers out there , brake light ?

I read some time ago on VOSA site, that if the vehicle left the factory with a eye level brake light, it must be working. But they are classed as additional, so if not fitted will be ok.

    Sump plug washer

Needed to do it this morning. thanks for sorting one out for me. Just need to find my tin of Gunk for the drive. Hope it has not sunk in and leaves a stain. Have to jet wash the whole bloody drive.

    Sump plug washer

just noticed the MRs Td4 has a bloody oil leak, it has to be the washer, because I changed the oil last month and did not have a washer. Halfords is the only place open and they have a HFX 224 Nodge mentioned some time ago, is this the exact size washer or the type of washer. I have to do it...
