Oil leak

If the IRD O ring is leaking, it won't show at the bell housing. The IRD takes it's drive from the gearbox output shaft. There is a "tell tail" hole in the IRD nose. Any oil that gets through the O ring, drips out the hole.
Gearbox input shaft is the likely cause

Just to let you all know it's done and dusted and been running fine for weeks now. It's also the driest engine and gearbox unit ever (possibly). So what was it then? Well the drip from the IRD and running down to the gearbox low point was in fact - the common rail switch.
With the acoustic cover off the leak is visually undetectable - nothing wet anywhere. The inlet and turbo piping hide everything. The gearbox is under the common rail switch but the top of the gearbox was dry so the leak was finding an obscure path to the bottom of the bell housing. It is awkward but you have to try to get your fingers under the switch to check for wet/damp. This fix for this problem was to tighten the switch - done!

This is a bit of a resurrection, but I do not understand how the common rail switch is screwed into the gearbox, causing gearbox oil leak. Or was it a diesel leak.

It would be good with an explaination on this one... Have the same symptoms myself.
But the oil leaking from my car is pretty greasy - so its not fuel.
So.. was it a fuel leak?
