    Just found this thread, As I'm in the process of taking the autobox out of a 300, and have welded quite a few Discos I think I would repair and keep the P reg one, then weigh in the L reg one for about £250-£275 then the new one has only cost £200, good days work:D

    Its personal preference really, both are good off road, I find autos are a bit more civilised for daily driving, can't stall off road and don't have squealing spigot bushes but you do pay a bit more at the pumps. I suppose you pays your money and takes your choice really. whichever you choose...

    Hi All My 2000 Disco2 td5 is making a noise when turning the steering wheel, the fluid is foaming in the reservoir then the level rises when I set the wheels straight again. It looks like air in the system but it doesn't clear Any ideas anyone? Kev

    Depending how deep the water is, it may be worth fitting a breather to the timing belt cover too, I just drilled a hole in the injector pump pulley cover, welded/tiger sealed a bsp fitting over the hole and screwed a push fitting in there then ran some pipe up with the other (extended)...

    Code 0023 Invalid pressure signal received I think its going to be the pressure transducer, I'll have a look tomorrow to make sure its not just a broken wire. Thanks for the help. Kev

    Ahh, sorry about that, yes I have a light with an image of a car with a curved arrow on each side. So I believe that's the ACE light. Kev
