Hi all

I own this


Discovery 300tdi

It has snorkel and all other off road mods but with the flooding round my area I am voulenteering to help stranded people in the floods now the snorkel for air intake is not the problem

It's the standard diff and transfer box breathers I am worried about

Where are these located and where do they run????

Any help be brill as will have to try do them ASAP to get back out helping stranded people

Front diff on ns of axel at top. Goes up the ns inner wing behind washer bottle

Rear on ns of axel at top again. Goes up a frame towards sediment filter.

Gearbox and TFT box on os behind hi low linkages. Go up bulkhead to behind head.
 
Depending how deep the water is, it may be worth fitting a breather to the timing belt cover too, I just drilled a hole in the injector pump pulley cover, welded/tiger sealed a bsp fitting over the hole and screwed a push fitting in there then ran some pipe up with the other (extended) breathers. You can get the bits from Pirtek, or ebay if you can wait for the postman.
 
nice truck and good luck with the rescue work that part of the reason i got mine.

are these breather points in the same places on a '93 200tdi disco? i have spotted the from axle breather
 
Just did a breather kit on mine, I replaced the diff breathers (whole lot) with threaded elbows from ebay,, extended the gear and trans box ( there two pipes in the engine bay with hocked ends, found mine on the lh side of the engine (looking at the engine from the front).

Finally the timing cover I bought new and simply replaced it, easy job all in all ;)

I decided it best to run the pipes on the left hand side of the disco as it's the opposite side to the hot exhaust pipes.

You've done the worst parts! Just extend the gear and trans box breathers cut the hook off the end and put a push fit straight through connector in ;)
Timing cover is simple, bolts can be a bit tight though.

Then see how deep you dare to go :D :crazy_driver:
