Second battery + split charging system on RRC V8?

Looks good Steve (unprotected terminals aside)! ;) Thanks for the pics. I did wonder, but my airbox and a bunch of LPG-related gumph is sat in the way, so gonna have to move all that - bollocks!

Second battery + split charging system on RRC V8?

Thanks guys. Is MHM Mad Hat Man? Steve - good news, any pics of yours showing where it was mounted and the wiring in place? The other option which I did consider would be to affix a solar panel to the roof of the roof tent, but not sure how much power this would generate - plenty of sunshine...

Second battery + split charging system on RRC V8?

One of the final modifications I wish to make to my RRC for it's trip to Morocco later this year is a second battery + split charging system. Part of the reason for this is to preserve the 'starting' battery as much as possible, but also because we will be taking some camera gear and a fridge...

Electric Seat and Mirrors - ECU looks good.

That's fair enough - no idea if it still works, I sold the car!

    Can't stay shiney forever.....

Do the cars actually come with the plugs somewhere, or do you have to buy them?

RRC - Alarm and Immobiliser - without FOB

First thing first, is it a soft dash model or last of the hard dashes? Assuming the former, second question - do you have a small socket with electrical connectors on the front face of the inside of the armrest/cubby box? If so, this means you have the 'Conlog Cat 1' alarm/immobiliser, so...

    Am I asking too much?

Well done! What did you get for it in the end?

Electric Seat and Mirrors - ECU looks good.

For the seat switch, carefully prize the adjuster knobs off the top of the control panel, then the top plate underneath. Then squirt some WD40 in there and wiggle all the switches around, worked a treat on my old Classic - the mirror switch could be an unrelated problem, so for the sake of 5...

    Can't stay shiney forever.....

How did the inside get filthy?! Haha! Good effort though, nice to see someone using an RR for what it was designed to do. When it's clean, my Classic looks lovely - but it still gets down and dirty now and then!!

My Range Rover Classic expedition project (ongoing, pics etc)

I took the roof tent off the RR this weekend, no point dragging it round for the next few months! Also gave me an opportunity to give it a thorough clean, as it is second hand and when it was last used it was caught in a sand storm in the Sahara, so was covered in the stuff! It cleaned up...

    Expedition...

We're taking the overnight Portsmouth - Bilbao ferry on the way out, then driving 1,000km (650 miles) through Spain to Algeciras to meet the rest of the group. On the way back we are driving back through Spain again, taking the overnight Santander - Portsmouth ferry. Ferry cost is £1,000, fuel...

    Expedition...

I reckon circa 2,000-2,500 miles door to door? Depends if you drive through France and Spain, just Spain or ship the car down!

Mounting a roof tent on a Range Rover Classic?

    Anyone Fancy A Pub Meet??

Yeah, I've done about 300 miles in mine and really needed a good valet inside and out, just ran out of time!

My Range Rover Classic expedition project (ongoing, pics etc)

UPDATE: 10/03/2012 Most expensive month so far!! The steering wobble had got worst (a lot worst), so took it back to Goodyer 4x4 and another £550 was relieved from me to strip out and rebuild both swivel housings, fit new swivel pins to both sides and fit a new drag link balljoint. Ouch...

    Anyone Fancy A Pub Meet??

Nice to meet those of you who were still there at 5pm! Sorry bit late, been a manic weekend racing up and down the country - and lets face it, RR Classic's aren't made for racing. Last time I saw that many P38's all together was in the breakers yard (;)), good turnout! Not enough Classic's...

Mounting a roof tent on a Range Rover Classic?

Thanks vette - my brother and I weigh around 14 stone each, that's a lot of weight through two roof bars! I've got a full Thule roof rack with lockable roof bars on its way, plus the two current bars, so will use three or four bars and pad them out as you say. For the journey home I just used...
