Electric Seat and Mirrors - ECU looks good.

Hi guys, did search but was unable to find anything that answered the question I have.

Usual thing; drivers seat and mirrors stopped working. I simply didn't use them for a year or so before which they worked and suddenly nothing.

Now obviously first instinct is the ECU. I was lent one by my mechanic which looks OK, a little seepage from the battery but hardly looks enough to cause any problems with the power interface chips. Swapping this one in didn't work.

I set about digging mine out from under the seat opened it up and noticed firstly that the unit was serviced in '05. Opening it up and the battery has been replaced with an NiMh battery and the board is spotless; no leak, no residue, nothing.

Now I'm sure I need to have the unit itself checked, but what I was looking for wasn't there and it looks like it 'should' be fine. Am I missing something? Is there something else I should be looking for? What could the problem be if it isn't the unit?

i have ecu for sale if needed..

well i know it might be obvious , but have you checked the fuses under the saets, and you could take the switches out and redo them, thats a long patience job on your own with no distractiions if you have not done it before. as it sound as though the ecu is fine

I had a little swap around with some working fuses under the seat to no effect. I can't imagine both seat and mirror switches would have completely gone both at the same time without any reduction in working.

I guess the only thing to do is send the unit off to ClassicLSE.com and see if they come up with anything themselves...

For the seat switch, carefully prize the adjuster knobs off the top of the control panel, then the top plate underneath. Then squirt some WD40 in there and wiggle all the switches around, worked a treat on my old Classic - the mirror switch could be an unrelated problem, so for the sake of 5 minutes it's worth a try!

My process would be the same, but don't use WD40, it is a Water Dispersant and not a contact cleaner....

Blow out with an Airline/Air Cleaner then use a good Electrical contact cleaner...

WD40 will attract dust and gum it up again....use as a dispersant only, and not as a release agent or contact cleaner.

That's fair enough - no idea if it still works, I sold the car!
