    taking off lift kit.

If it were just for the performance benefit (or otherwise) I'd agree. My problem is with replacing parts that give up on me while away from the normal sources of supply. Replacing standard bits in, say, southern Morocco is easier, relatively, than trying to replace what I have now. The...

    taking off lift kit.

So, to follow on from this, I have Terrafirma Big Bore +2" shocks on the back of a 110 300Tdi 3-door and I want to lower the back end to level the truck. It has cranked trailing arms so I know I need to replace them, but can I leave the shocks and just replace the springs with stock HD? Sorry if...

    Expedition advice.

Lots of advice, some of which works for some people, but not all. My personal response to the question would be dependant on knowledge of your mechanical abilities (can you fix a simple breakdown), your attitude to risk and your attitude to travelling in a group. In addition, are you planning...

    Any idea?

Go Delphi. Too much of a pain if the cheap parts give up on you unless Spannering is your alternative to the Pub.

    Fitting the Boomslang Headlight Harness

Great sequence and thank you for taking the time to make it. This is a job on my list,so to see how it's done is very useful.

    Earthing point near fuse box?

Nice idea. As my lights are so dim I don't think I'd notice if they were on in daylight, I'm gonna shamelessly nick this! Thanks for the post :)

    Expedition UK and Scotland 2018

I agree. There is nowhere to (legally) drive off-road in Scotland without the landowner's permission. This is hard to secure, even if you know who it is - vast areas of Scottish "wilderness" are owned by relatively few people who aren't keen on motorised visitors. I say "visitors" because...

    110 Overlanding Suspension

There's a lot to be said for keeping everything "stock". Modified vehicles can be unpredictable in their response to the so-called "improvements" you make, and what apparently strengthens one bit moves the potential failure zone somewhere else - a good example is HD hub flanges. In remote areas...

    Lights out in the Snow....

How did you get on? Head down in the engine bay wouldn't be good with a head cold!

    Lights out in the Snow....

OK, I've tried to follow this thread as I want to improve my headlights, but I'm afraid I've got a bit lost with all the chatter about specs. Can any of the experts here present, now that the debate appears to be over, tell me what I need to make the "Defender wiring loom" marketed by Paddocks...

    Expedition UK and Scotland 2018

With the rest of the world. Make sure you book your hotel well in advance. Stunning scenery, though. Makes the view from the traffic queue worthwhile.

Problem balancing 265 75 16 wheels, should I get rid?

Yes. ..and like bankz5152 said, I had 265/75 STTs on my previous Defender, also unbalanced, without any problems at all. In fact the local tyre place said they didn't have the kit to balance them properly and "anyway, they don't need it". While I disagree with their opinion, experience suggests...

Problem balancing 265 75 16 wheels, should I get rid?

I had this precise problem recently and went through the same pain as you. Balancing made a bit of a difference, but didn't cure it. In the end I had a really good look at the joints and bushes in the steering system. The bush in the Panhard rod at the chassis end had a tiny amount of play -...

    Electric Fan?

+1 for that, and Mikescuba's comments. I fitted one to my previous CSW - waste of time. All the hype about performance increases and fuel economy...well, I'm no expert and didn't have the micrometer measure that I think you'd need to confirm it one way or the other, but I didn't see any...

This happened today when i was driving, what can i do

Dunno if I've misunderstood, but did ALL the bolts part company with the flange? If so I'm surprised the OP didn't notice something amiss - a loose set of flange bolts will allow all that oil and grease to plaster the wheel long before they "work themselves out".
