    TD6 Gearbox damage prevention?

Oil and filter change for the gearbox is a must and should be done on a regular basis...depending on amount of mileage done or use, at least every two years or fourty thousand miles. Get a good garage to do it and check for glitter or bits in the oil and on the sump pan magnets, this gives an...

Looking to replace P38 with L322

Deffo don't be put off by the 'horror' stories. Just make sure that any vehicle you look at has got a good, regular and kosher service history. Number of previous owners and length of ownership of vehicle can often be an indication of whether the motor is a good'un or a pup... after all...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Just went for my first trip in the snow this morning with the Rangie...took it nice and easy, feeling out how she handles. Got a slight skitter on as I went round a 90degree right hand corner, but she held nicely. Then pi$$£d myself laughing as the RAV4 behind me did a full 180 spin on the same...

    Am I mad, buying l322

Just getting used to jumping in the back, leaning over and opening the door from the inside, then leaping out the back, jumping in the front and starting her up. Get loads of funny looks from people in the car parks/petrol stations...probably thinking I've nicked the motor!!

    Am I mad, buying l322

yep, the cable's easy to change...once its bin delivered and I've got some daylight / no snow / no rain / no frost, to let me get the door card off and get it changed!! Havent got a garage to park the motor in, so has to be done outdoors and as it's pitch black when I get back from work, will...

Just like the Girlfriend was - I am a little disappointed....

Perfectly true, that's why you'll see more 4x4s in ditches when the weathers bad. People think that cos theyre easy to get going, thelly be able to corner and stop just as easily!! The bloke in the states had bought a big RV off a well known company and sued the company for $10 million.....and...

Just like the Girlfriend was - I am a little disappointed....

Bloody gutted, havent even had a flake yet...and I'm in Cumbria!! Ever since I got a 4x4 two years ago, I've not had one decent snow day. Gettin well pi$%£d off at the lack of driving fun. Still time yet...but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

    Well it's dead :(

I had similar before Xmas, HDC Inactive coming up occasionally, then one day wouldn't start...just clicks. Jump started the Rangie and she was fine for a couple of weeks...then died again. Got new battery and everythings fine again. The battery gets old and needs renewing. Simple as that.

Range Rover purchase. Is this a good buy or good bye to my ££s??

Yep, that's one of the ones.....also had an 06 facelift Vogue on the Trader at £6000, the price of the motor was ludicrously low to 'tempt' the unwary. I tried reporting them to AutoTrader. Their reply was that they keep removing the ads, but they just come back..or change to a different...

Range Rover purchase. Is this a good buy or good bye to my ££s??

Yep, seen that scam...there's a similar one comes up on Autotrader quite regularly, except the scam is to get you to buy the motor through 'finance', which ends up costing an even bigger fortune! I got my 54 reg (2005) Vogue back in October for £8500, it has high mileage, but has been mint so...

Did all the Td6 models use the GM gearbox?

+1, I always put the gearbox in neutral when stopped at lights, etc. You can feel the vehicle straining a bit if you leave it in gear whilst stationary, which won't be doing it any good.

Previous RHD Conversion and Overseas Declaration Mystery...

Also, Grey imports normally come from countries which have RHD cars as standard, e.g. Japan.

Previous RHD Conversion and Overseas Declaration Mystery...

Sorry for the pun, but it's a bit of a grey area! Grey imports are normally bought through car dealerships/individuals, where they are imported and sold on immediately, whereas personal imports are bought by an individual for their personal use, i.e. not for profit, but because it is cheaper. I...

    bite the bullet time

Bin on the phone to my Indy this morning, unfortunately the guy they use in Newcastle doesn't do the auto boxes, only manual gearboxes, as they can be too troublesome. They did mention a (good) garage/bloke in Newcastle that does auto boxes, and the L322 GM boxes, but they've never used him...

Previous RHD Conversion and Overseas Declaration Mystery...

Shouldn't affect the insurance, as it's UK registered and not been modified (i.e. not converted from LHD to RHD). I didn't need to inform the insurance company that my motorbike is technically an import (first and sole registered in UK), so you wouldn't need to inform your insurance, unless...

Previous RHD Conversion and Overseas Declaration Mystery...

Deffo sounds like a RHD Belgian personal import, or possibly a RHD personal import from someone in the Armed Forces based in Germany. Maybe Landrover can tell you where it came from through the VIN numbers, they should have details of what vehicles went abroad, etc., and should be able to trace...

Previous RHD Conversion and Overseas Declaration Mystery...

It could have been a vehicle bought in Belgium and brought in as a personal import. You could get RHD vehicles in Belgium in the early 80's and bring them to the UK, thus avoiding the tax/duty on new vehicles. The car would have had a Belgian (i.e. LHD vin on it) and belgian plates, then...
