    Td4 Egr Bypass Pipes

You've missed the point. We aren't talking about disabling the egr valve, we all know how to do that. We're talking about removing the obstruction that the egr valve mechanism presents to the air flow with obvious and proven benefits over and above what disabling it offers. Ron

    Td4 Egr Bypass Pipes

Well you must have seen how much gunge accumulates on the egr valve innards and how big an obstruction to the airlfow the valve mechanism is. There are photos on my website here: 75ZT HOME So the bypass is an egr lookalike, but with the exhaust supply blanked off and a smooth unobstructed...

TD4 Intermitent Power (Unwell Freelander !!)

If the engine warning light has been on, there should be a fault code logged. So maybe the garage's diagnostic equipment is not fully compatible. (Diesels prior to 2004 aren't fully EOBD compliant and generic code readers will report 'no codes' when there are some.) It could be:- Fuel rail...

    Td4 Egr Bypass Pipes

You can now buy an egr bypass pipe from [email protected]. Jointly developed by Dave and yours truly, it is a quick bolt on job and offers the following advantages: No more crud build up on the assembly Reduced smoke, especially on tuned engines More power thanks to much better airflow...

    Td4 2002 Ecu Wanted

Well, if its like the 75, the ecu will be of no use to who ever stole it. You cannot re-code a used ecu to the alarm ecu on another 75 and therefore probably not on the Td4 either. You must use a brand new one. The coding of the ecu to the alarm is a 'once only' procedure. (Unlike with the...

    dropping power flat out

You'll have to eat those words! MY 2007 X-type 2.0D (euro iv) has one! They are fitted now, to control the egr valve instead of the ecu using the maf sensor. Ron

    dropping power flat out

The Hp pump solenoid is attached to the end of the Hp pump and regulates the fuel pressure. I have heard of the seal failing causing reduced fuel pressure, starting problems and cutting out under load. I don't know whether all Td4s have an under bonnet low pressure pump (ealy 75/Zts did) but...

    dropping power flat out

I can't see the turbo being faulty. They either work or they don't. If it was damaged and ineffecient you'd get black smoke due to lack of air and you'd notice a loss of torque from under 2000rpm. If this isn't happening and there are no untoward noises from it, cutting out under full throttle...

    dropping power flat out

The cat has no effect on the MOT smoke test and little effect on emission. Its really only fitted to get rid of the old diesel exhaust smell. However, modern low sulphur fuels do not produce much smell with current efficient diesel engines and my 75 barely smells any worse. Euro 4 (2006/7)...

    dropping power flat out

Another whorthwile mod is to replace the egr valve with a straight through pipe. (TD5 owners have already found this out!) This chap is making them for us 75/ZT/BMW owners and it releases upto 10bhp if you have a decat as well. (Plus a Tu3 or Synergy) I'm just waiting for some pics, but the...

What test computer can i use?

There are quite a few free or shareware ones such as ScanTool.net - Software - ScanTool.net OBD2 Software OBD II logger Win This one logs the data in Excel format as well so you can produce your own charts. The ISO interface is available from Gendan.co.uk for £65 Diagnostics...

What test computer can i use?

The diesels are not fully OBD2 compatible prior to 2004. But you can still use the generic types to view sensor data but not fault codes. (Pin 4 and 5 may need to be linked in the scantool or its plug.) Sykes Pickavant ACR4 and appropriate pod and cable are needed to be able to read fault...

    TD4 smoke and lazy

EGR bypass pipe will be available from this chap soon. (Apparently a popular mod with Disco TD5 owners) [email protected] It just bolts on in place the the existing one and has a smooth bore so better for air flow and no more hot exhaust gas enters to cause clogging. It releases a few...

    after power loss problems

If the performance is not normal after 3 drive cycles, then take it back. Something else is wrong or the new maf is not good. (Its not an ebay Chinese clone one is it?) Out of spec maf sensors usually don't cause any fault codes anyway. (Unless you have driven with it unplugged.) Ron

    TD4 When Cold

You should take it easy. Let it warm up a bit before giving it a lot of welly on cold mornings. Ron

    TD4 When Cold

This is normal. All diesels sound noisier when cold - its diesel knock. The BMW engine is quieter than many when cold, quieter than most others are when hot even! Fuel quality also makes a difference. Stay clear of Supermarket fuel (especially at present!). Shell Extra is preferred by this...

    after power loss problems

No, that's rubbish. If there is no fault, then power will be restored even though there will be fault codes logged. Ron
